I've just got back from a very enjoyable night out.....I've had the very great pleasure to escort two of our GN members, CitiZenNoir and Isabelle, around Liverpool in general and Matthew Street, the Cavern Club and the Cavern Pub in particular.

Here's a pic of our two intrepid explorers (and a friend!) outside the pub....

Ken (CitiZenNoir) onstage in the Cavern Pub, wherein much beer was consumed and an excellent band (Kappa, I think they were called) was listened to.....apologies for the quality (blame the beer consumption!) of this one, but doubtless Ken has a better pic - you'll have to wait for him to upload the pics he took.

Isabelle outside the cradle of civilisation as we know it.....

Ken and Isabelle, thank you very much for asking me along - I hope you enjoyed yourselves (apart from the Parking Ticket, of course!) as much as I did! Oh, and the house in Rodney Street?...."This beautiful Georgian terraced house is far more famous for its occupant than it is for its relatively common architecture. It acted as the studio for the world famous Liverpool based photographer Edward Chambre Hardman. The house has been preserved just as when he lived there, a unique time capsule of early 20th Century life." (There was no information on the house, just a notice it was closed for the winter.)

:D :D :D :D :D

:D Thanks Vic for showing us around the best parts of Liverpool. I had a smashing time - best night out I've had in a while. The band was fantastic, and the Cavern - wow. I'm definitely going to have to come back.

Thanks again.

Great pics Vic,

This homeland of yours is becoming a bit of a pilgrimage mecca for GN members. I've really got to get up there this year for a guitar sabbatical and maybe have a jam session too.

Very cool Vic, Ken and Isabelle!! Someday I would like to make that trip across the pond. I just found out not too long ago that my maternal grandfather (I never had the pleasure to meet him) was from the UK. If I can recall what my sister told me, I think he lived in Thorpe St. Andrew. Does that sound right?

Thanks for posting the pics...name escapes me, but Vic looks *just* like a bloke from Status Quo. (Sorry if that's offensive, mate.)

Take care,

I think Vic would be the last person to be offended by a positive comparison to Status Quo

Hmmm - I hope you mean Rick - the one with the white Telecaster - and not Frank! Funny thing is, my youngest daughter shares her birthday with Rick Parfitt - October 12th - and, if memory serves correctly, that's Isabelle's birthday as well!

Oh, and Shady, my oldest daughter (from my first marriage) was born on February 25th 1981- that particular wedding took place on July 7th 1979. Those two dates - Feb 25th and July 7th - ring any bells?

:D :D :D
