Hi: I am a writer doing an article on the fitness and diet habits of famous guitar players over 40. If anyone can help me with this it would be great, this information seems to be sacred amongst this famous music sector. Thanks in advance for your help. :)

I am over forty. in fact I have been playing guitar for forty five years. I remain not famous. I do exercise and eat foods that are healthy; deoxidents, iron , Vitamin A, etc. are essential. I have a set of physical exercises for my hands and arms (tendinitis).
but seriously, I will not have blue M & M's back stage. I throw fits when I see them.

I'm not famous either, and my diet would HORRIFY the purists - cigarettes, cider and junk food. BUT - that's what's kept me going for about 36 of my 54 years...and I can still rock all night, have a beer and a cigarette for breakfast, get a couple of hours sleep and be ready at a moment's notice to rock'n'roll again.

Would it surprise you to learn my hero is Keith Richards? Probably not, I suspect....My obsession with guitar based r'n'r has probably cost me two marriages over the years, they just didn't get it - but my partner who I've been with for 13 years now DOES understand, and gives me a little space.

2-3 times a year, I'll detox - that means a couple of days drinking tea. No alcohol whatsoever. When I'm sober, I just don't seem to enjoy the guitar as much...

I'll continue to enjoy a drink or three, and the bacon egg and sausage butties, and I'll keep on playing hard rock....and I'll live fast, die young (no forget that, I'm too old to die young!) and make a handsome (no, forget that as well! perhaps "Craggy?") corpse.

Diet? Fags and booze and rock and roll.....is all my body needs.

:D :D :D
