On Sunday, September 9, 2007, I will be performing maintenance and upgrades on these forums.
To make sure everything goes smoothly the forums will be taken offline until the work is complete.
This daunting task could take as long as 12 hours to complete, and will begin around 10pm Eastern Time on Sunday. At the very latest, the forums should be back online by 12:00 PM on Monday the 10th.
The rest of the site will be unaffected.
Oh dear - I remember the last time this happened. Remember April 2004 & the Great GN Meltdown?
Fingers crossed - hope everything goes smoothly, Paul!!!!

ah yes, but that one was an upgrade and a site move to a new host. Although this one could get ugly, it shouldn't.
....and if all goes as planned I can actually do the job I do for a living rather than deleting spammers, perhaps I can post again, and those guitarists in Maldova and Ukraine won't have their entire countries blocked from the board.. *sniff* *sniff*
:D
Thanks for the warning Paul
I'll make sure my meds and emergency distractions are stocked up and ready to get me through this.

Uh-oh. I think I feel withdrawl symptoms coming on already

By my reckoning, the down-time should begin about 3AM here in the UK - I suppose I could sleep through about 4-5 hours of it. But what to do in the other 7-8 hours?
Talk about Monday morning blues!

You could always try trimming trees, boil fingerpicks and mould them to fit...

Err, no - this is an International weekend - Euro 2008 Qualifiers.
Women's Wold Cup starts Monday.
Hey Vic, I've got something else you can borrow for a while, if you promise not to get it all bloody...
I'm fine with blunt instruments - anything sharper than a butter-knife (make that a plastic one, just in case.....) and I'm lethal.....to myself....

That's pretty blunt, but it can make an impression.

(Fortunately Sweden and Denmark also drew and Ireland lost.)

Sorry for the off-topic.
Edit: Misspelling, sorry.
