here is a photo a fan sent to me. we gigged last month at our favorite road house. Leo and Leonas in Newburg Corners, Wisconsin. I am playing a 1940 Epiphone lap steel. we are a four piece now, but for this gig two old friends joined us for a song. they are playing harp and acoustic.
no gigs on the horizon. it is tough getting them. I should start another thread.

Looks like a good line up, I'd love to watch a band with a lap steel player!!! We just don't get that where I live :-(

What's the issue with getting more gigs where you are?

where I now live, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, just about everyone you meet is in a band. for example, when having the inspection for house in wanted to buy the guy noticed my guitar cases. asked if I were in a band. he was. the next day, the electrician stopped by. he also plays in a band. a month later I stopped at a studio to convert photo slides to digital format. the owner had a drum set in back. his band rehearses at the shop on Wednesdays.
there is a lot of competition I have discovered. many bands play the classic stuff. some are specialty (all 80's songs) for example.
our game plane that we just agreed to to is to set up a Facebook page, and work the social network when we do get a gig.
we found a promoter. she works the media, does the cold calls, and sends a photographer to the gigs so the Facebook page has images of the band and crowd. she is asking 20%. she knows the area. maximum bar gig pay is 600$. we're a four piece. the promoter thinks the lap steel will set us apart.

Whether or not it sets you apart is arbitrary. You make that instrument sound fantastic, as I recall. Gotta love a well played lap steel. Worth the price of admission.

Anything in your soundclick page(s) with recent heavy use of it? I'd like to hear some.

I was looking through the GC site using a variety of key-words looking for a "Pedal Steel". Nothing. I'll broaden the search of course, but was curious if you knew of a good, but reasonable maker of the Pedal Steel Guitar complete with stand or whatever it sets on.
