Hi guitarnoise community,
I'm Daniel from Native Instruments.

I would like to invite you to check out the brand
new GUITAR RIG demo version, which is now available
for download on our website. GUITAR RIG transforms
any computer into a high-end guitar set-up, complete
with a vast selection of virtual effects, amplifiers
and cabinets.

The demo provides the same wide range of components
as the full version and runs stand-alone and as
plug-in via VST, RTAS, DXi and Audio Units. For an
immediate dive into your perfect custom tone, we
included a quick start guide plus some guitar lick
samples for the integrated tape decks.

Please keep in mind that unlike the demo, the full
version comes with the hardware foot controller
RIG KONTROL, which serves as D.I. box to plug your
guitar in, and is ideal for live playing and
intuitive software control.

The demo can be found in the left column:

have fun!

Daniel (NI)

You just need a soundcard with an input for your guitar. But there comes a first steps manual together with the demo version.
If your soundcard offers a "guitar" or "instrument" input or it can be switched to such a mode, please use this mode.

With all other soundcards you will need a D.I. box or a guitar pre-amplifier between the guitar and the "line" input to hear the full sonic potential of your guitar and GUITAR RIG. Such a device aligns the impedance of your guitar to a line input. Without it the sound is less powerfull and brilliant.

The output level of your guitar might also be too low to make use of the full dynamic range of your soundcard. In such a case we recommend to use a high-impedance pre-amplifier, an active D.I box or a D.I. box connected to a line amp (mixer channel). A floor effect device often can also work as a high-impedance pre-amp. It should be set to a neutral sound or to an "active" bypass mode (a directly switched "true" bypass will not do it).

Microphone inputs should not be used for guitar. They have a low impedance and the sensitivity is so high that the signal would be clipped.

The full version of GUITAR RIG includes the RIG KONTROL foot controller which contains a high-quality guitar pre-amplifier.

If you do not use a D.I. Box or a "guitar"/"instrument" input, you may experience a loss of brilliance and tone.

i havent got the slightest clue what a D.I box is..

"If your soundcard offers a "guitar" or "instrument" input or it can be switched to such a mode, please use this mode"..

dont know how to check that..

i have a mic that i recorded me playing on before..
i stuck the mic next to the amp and played and heard it back..

messed with the effects on the program..

i am really impressed..

if i stick my guitar lead into the computer where the mic fits into will it work like that..

(there was a delay when i was playing before.. guitar to amp, amp to mic, mic to computer, computer to speakers) that might be why..

ill go see if my cable fits in..

i am impressed though.

You'll need a low latency soundcard - mostly the internal ones that come with your computer are the last s... - and you won't have any delay playing your guitar together with GR.

Thanks,

Daniel

well i plugged my guitar into the computer and played..

still a delay..

if i am playing something at a reasonable tempo (quite fast) then... i will be 2 notes ahead of the one i hear..

i can play E F# A.. after im going from the A to say a B.. i will hear the first E i played..

and that kinda puts me off it a bit, if it was less boomy and less scrambly microphone noice and kept up with when the notes are being played i would like it..

but, it doesnt, so :?

if i could fix it... and got used to it.. i might consider buying the guitar rig..

how much is it (£ pounds)?

The delay is caused by your soundcard, please read this little info about soundcards and latency ect..:

Remember looking at this in the current total guitar and thinking it looked interesting.. Might give it a try later.

I see 2 points which will certainly dampen my enthuiasm:

1. Runs on XP - don't want it, don't like it, don't trust it.

2. €449 - what more is there to say.

Cool, I'll check it out. If it does what it promises to do it will be a grand 'bedroom studio' tool :D

Hi Daniel,

Not only is your post welcome, you put it in the right place.

I have XP and Audigy Platinum which seems to work just fine. No latency whatsoever.

The product is fantastic.

The price is the only thing stopping me from buying it.

this tool seems to be really cool. Did anybody tried it? Does it sound good and would it be live capable?
