Anyone ever watch Deliverance? That's what King's leg probably looked like.

The noise I made could be considered squealing like a pig ...

Did you walk into the ER with the ax still in place? Reminds me of when I worked in a hospital near the ER. One night I was watching TV in the ER waiting room and a guy walks in complaing of a headache. I looked up and he had an axe buried in his forehead!!
 That sounds like the Saturday Night Live skit Appalachian ER!

Sorry to hear about your axe-i-dent, KP. Get better soon!

I'm a little concerned -- has anyone heard from Kingpatzer since he posted about the accident?

He was going to a follow up with his orthopedic surgeon, he might have needed some surgery and a day or two in the hospital. Just a guess. Hope everything is going well. ken

Didn't see that skit, but having some experience in real Appalachian ERs, that doesn't sound too unusual to me.

It appears he posted last evening--evidently you didn't notice that one.

I think there might have been a series of Appalachian ER skits on SNL. David Spade played the desk clerk/intake nurse. Couldn't find it on youtube, but they are worth seeing if anyone can turn them up.

Oh, I've seen some interesting things come in the ER in which a chainsaw was involved...

Update ---

Well, I've had my tendons stitched back together, and I can take a few steps on my own -- but to really get around i need crutches.

My foot is in a protective boot/soft-cast thing that is ludicrously uncomfortable, and I spend my evenings enjoying the thrills of demirol and percodan.

But all in all I'm doing pretty well all things considered, and baring the un-fore-seen will be just peachy in about 2 more weeks

How's the guitar playing on those drugs?

Well, I'm deep into my Physical Therapy and coming along just fine.

In fact, it's going so well, my wife and I are going ot go ahead with our vacation plans -- 11 days of scuba fun in Puerto Vallarta in June!

The leg looks great, you can hardly tell there's any problems, and I get around well enough now that you can't really tell I had an injury. However, it still needs some work to get to 100%, and if you grab me on the leg in just the right place I can still jump through the roof.

All in all I can't complain about how things are going . . .
