Do you know about Ed Roman? He is a very controversial, self-proclaimed Guitar King of Las Vegas -- either god or @##$&, depending upon whom you ask. Visiting his store could be a very interesting experience -- could be the basis of a GN review. Google him, but read and consider with healthy skepticism.

(I see TL beat me -- posting anyway)

his store is on Dean Martin Drive. think I will look for the Rat Pack remmants while I am at it.

The outskirts of the city is a desert.
Maybe some attractive looking cacti might catch your eye . . .

I think they have bus tours of the Hoover Dam though.

Have fun. (Pleeeeeeease take meeeee!)

yeah, I hear there is a desert out there. I saw it once from the plane. it is 48 degrees at home and 90 there. I think my grain will split or something. now Ken, you are a good guy and all. you'd probably be good company, but I'd rather take UCG than you.

Woo hoo, free trip to Vegas! When do we leave?
*Avoids all references to being or getting lucky...*

Seriously though, I have a cousin who works in a bar there somewhere but I have never been. I'm not gambler but I would like to at least see the place someday. I was thinking of kidnapping my husband and taking him there for our anniversary in January. Let me know if you find any cool shops/sites other than the usual.
Have fun, Dogbite!

All my life I wanted to be somebody. Now I see I should have been more specific.

Seriously, you ought to book a show . . . like yesterday.
Las Vegas has some of the best shows in the world - bar none.
But they're usually booked weeks if not months in advance.
Any of the Circus Soleil shows are a must. Blue Men are great. The magic shows are good (like David Copperfield if he's still performing.)
Bette Midler was one of the top performers that I can think of. (Don't know if she's still doing LV)
Celine Dion finished her stint I believe.
Free stuff: The Venetian has street entertainers, The Bellagio has the water fountains choreographed to music -outstanding, Treasure Island has a performance you view from the streets that is entertaining ; a pirate war with ships and cannons, Just walking through Caesars Palace is entertaining ; talking statues and stuff, Definitely take a bus down to the old Las Vegas (Freemont Street) - the light show is great. Loads of stuff to do without having to spend a lot of money.
The all-you-can-eat buffets are the best in the world - literally the best in the world.

You ought to google what to do. http://www.vegas.com/attractions/
I don't think the web sites show you the free stuff though.
Oops. Wrong. Here's a partial list. http://www.lasvegas.com/attractions/freeattractions.html You got some homework to do there. (I wish I had known about some of those.)

Enjoy!

two shows have been booked. I don't know the details. that was done by the bride's party for us. I have been to vegas before. things change fast there. two hotels are no longer there since my visit. and three have gone up. I am staying on the strip.
UCG, I will try to find your friend if I have to visit every bar and club there. thanks for the sportsmanship. Ken is allright; you're just cuter.
I will report back with cool things I have found.

GOOD food and drinks are expensive. The $9.95 all-you-can-eat buffet and steak dinners still exist just off the strip --- not recommended for those who can taste their food or have poor health insurance coverage.

Ken's correct, shows are one of the best parts. I recommend Penn and Teller (teen rated), Blue Man Group (family), any Circ d' Soleil show, though Zoomanity is def adult fare in the LV raunchy cabaret tradition. 8)

Lots of night clubs, many of which seem to employ young women diligently working their way through UNLV.
