Update:

I called Guitar Center today to check on the progress of the trace and found out it hadn't even been started. They were supposed to start it 8 days ago. I sent a strongly worded email to management and within two hours, had a response telling me they were reshipping the order.

That sounds like a step in the right direction.

Amazingly enough, the great GC has held its honour high by adhering to superior customer service.

Congrats on the re-shipment and good luck for your son's gigs.

Yep, I have to say GC's customer service has been excellent throughout this. I already liked the physical store much more than Sam Ash and now their online service proves to be awesome as well.

Sorry to hear that. It seems like UPS is so busy this time of year they don't really check if someone is home or not. Last week my son had sent me a gift from California and I just happened to go out for the mail and almost tripped over the box. They didn't even ring the doorbell. I guess the sender has to ask for a signature in order to insure the recipient actually gets the package. I hope it works out for you.
