Awesome! Congrats on the new one. I find myself in the mood to tune mine up and giving it a whirl. I think it's been months.

I have now a download of lead sheets for many fun songs. some traditional and some rockers. uke bands stand out when they have AC/DC on the song list. I was setting up to record my uke but I sliced my index finger open when preparing diner. man, right across the tip where the string is pressed.
anyway, I can send you the song list if you want it.

Ouch. Been to the Vic school of knives? (Sorry, Vic.. your history and all..... )
All kidding aside, I Hope it get's better soon.

And yes, I'd love the list. I don't have many uke sheets. "Sweet City Woman" might be the extent of what I can do right now.

I didn't get it. Doh! Stupid email. I didn't even get email notification that this topic had further responses. Very odd. I would like it. Do you remember how large it was?

I logged on because I've got a uke question. Kind of a personal preference thing. Two of them actually. For your Uke playing, do you prefer to stay somewhat close to the original rhythm of a song, or do you add the traditional sort of uke rhythm to a song. For example, I gave the stones Classic "You Can't Always Get What You Want" a spin on the uke and tried it both ways. The standard song rhythm was obviously more recognizable, but the uke style rhythm had merits of it's own.

The second question was the tone you get from your steel slide guitar had the island flavor to it one time. Was it in some part due to a solid slide? A "Bullet" brand, or something like that? I went to GC and Sam Ash this afternoon and they looked at me like I was a loon (fair assessment) when I asked for solid slides.

Roy. the file is not very large. on my end it loaded to yahoo mail quickly and went off fast when I hit Send. sometimes I have trouble having my emails accepted because I have yahoo mail as my server. when I add an attachment the receivers computer tends to see a harmful email and blocks it. I will send it to you.I believe I have your correct personal email address because of our collaboration history.

the ukulele.
when I play for myself, I play any and every song the way I feel at the moment. when I play in the Cheezland UkeBand we all stick to the rhythm style for the particular song. since their are forty or more of us in the same room it is that rhythm pattern comes across, but I know a bunch of the players, myself, included are jamming on the rhythm. sometimes I play only fills like I would on a guitar. no one seems to care; I've gotten no stern looks.
the steel guitar. I use a chrome metal bullet. 5/8" diameter by Dunlop. 8 ounces I think. it has a nice heft. it sounds great on all my slide guitars ( lap steels and a National Resophonic squareneck ). one of the lap steels is tuned C6. I bet that is what you heard as Hawaiian. it does to me. Hank Williams too. I notice that where I pick on the instrument matters greatly in the kinds of tones I make. when I strum over the middle of the neck the tomes are Hawaiian, round, clear and woody. working the strings with the pick nearer to the bridge the tone is brighter and metallic.

I think I see the slides on MF. They're calling them "tone bars". I'll probably get a medium. They got four choices, so somehting near the middle.....

There are a couple songs in this that are on my senior's home set lists. That'd be an interesting twist. :D
