Another '60's legend gone....heard on the News that Dave Dee (of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch fame) died today after a long struggle against cancer.
Maybe they didn't have as much street cred as the Beatles or the Stones or the Who, but still, they put out some great pop singles and were regulars in the top ten from the mid 60's for a few years.
RIP, Dave.
I'm off to youtube to find "Legend of Xanadu" and "Bend It" and remember some fun times....

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich played at the Basildon Festival the other year. Not the most obvious or upmarket gig for any band, but he got the crowd rocking and really did crack a whip on stage; and we stayed for half his set.
Sad that he's gone.

That's the difference between us, Alan - I'm a sucker for nostalgia, I'd have stayed for the WHOLE set. And probably clapped and sang along, too......
Something I found out last night....
Before he became a singer, Dave was a policeman - he was first to the scene of Eddie Cochran's fatal car crash, and took Eddie's guitar and looked after it till it could be returned to his family.
