Well, I'm back 8)
My short holiday in Brighton was a blast; sun, sea and lots of alcohol set the weekend off a real treat.
Now I'm rested, recharged and ready to head back to work
One of the housemates of my friend who I stayed with had an old (and I mean OLD) spanish classical guitar, that I couldn't help having a little play on; the partygoer's sung along so loud, I could bearly hear what I was playing myself!
On Thursday night, we steadily made our way through 3 volumes of "The Old Grey Whistle Test" on DVD. Now there was a good music-TV programme! Highlight had to be Hocus Pocus's "Focus". An organ player who also yodels? I'm in! :D
Good to back on GN; now I just have to deal with the hundred-odd emails I've recieved

Jan Akkerman the guitarist is still touring and his individual style is still well worth seeing live a really fantastic 2 hour live set of Accoustic & Electric mastership .
At 61 he still shines as an increadible musician , usually comes over here once a year and does quite a few smaller type music clubs , one of the nights of the year I always look forward to .
The rest of the band are still touring / yodelling as Focus but without Akkerman I wouldnt recommend it , saw the at a venue in Wolverhampton not long back as wasnt impressed.

Good to see you back, Pete!
Hmm - a 3-volume DVD of the OGWT? That's going on my must-have list.....!!!!!
I saw Focus back in the 70's, they were pretty good - they were (and still are, as far as I know....) the only band since the Shadows to have two instrumentals in the top 20 at the same time.....Sylvia and Hocus Pocus. I remember buying both singles - they were on the old Polydor label, if I remember rightly. B-sides were "Janis" and "House Of The King" - the yodelling organist, Thijs Van Leer, also played a pretty god flute. Ah, memories - OK, that's enough exercise for the brain cell for one night.......
:D :D :D
