Like I said on the SSG, my thoughts are with you, your family and especially with Shaun.....

I think it's pretty cool how everybody's rallied round to support you and your family in this time of need, John....just goes to show what a really nice bunch of people are here on GN....and hell, you know we all wish we could do more than just "be there for you" and keep our fingers crossed...

If we could do more, we would......

Again, best wishes to Shaun, I hope he's past the crisis....let us know when (NOT IF!!!!) you have some positive news....

He looks a real scrapper, he'll pull through....God willing.....

Vic.

Add my good thoughts and prayers to everyone elses, John. This looks to be shaping up to one heck of a prayer circle...it covers the globe! Things have to go well.

Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.

Our thoughts are all with you. I have a seven year old boy and I can only imagine what your family is going through. I hope he is able to make a full recovery. I'll be pulling for him.

John,

I have a 10 a 6 and a 5 year old. As stated before, I too would not know what to do if this were to happen to one of mine. Stay strong mate and know that these little ones are quite resilient. I can't say that I am much of a religious man mate but I will be thinking only good thoughts for your grandson.

All the best,

Matt.

Thank you all for your concern.

I was hoping to have some news to report on Shaun's condition
but the improvements are small and progress is slow. All signs
continue to be positive. He had a CAT scan yesterday and the
preliminary results show no spinal damage and just a small area of
bruising on the brain that the doctors did not seem too concerned
about. The other physical injuries are all fixable but we will not be
sure if there is any cognitive damage until they can decrease he
meds enough to wake him and speak to him. But all signs still
point in a positive direction.

The police are finishing up there investigation and all signs look
positive there also. I don't want to say too much on that except
that it appears that Shaun was doing all the right things. I don't
want to hang anybody over this I think this man's conscience is
troubling him enough. All I want now is for people to know that
Shaun was doing the right thing and that his medical needs will be
met. One way or another we will make sure that happens.

The Neighborhood has rallied around Shaun and are taking steps
to make this a safer place.

For a report see:
http://www.wnyt.com/x5346.xml?ag=x995&sb=x183

Some of the parents are providing morning and afternoon
crossing guard service for the school seeing as the city doesn't
see a need provide it. We are also hoping to get better safety
signs and more speed enforcement in this area.

The City Council meeting Tuesday night should be interesting.
It's a shame that something like this has to happen for
people to stand up and take notice but I'm glad they are.

Many of you have asked what more you can do and I don't quite
know what to say. There is a great deal of support coming in locally
so I would make some suggestions.

Donate blood it truly is the gift of life and there is always a need
worldwide.

Consider Ronald McDonald House Charities. They are a wonderful
organization who have been a great asset in this time of need.
If you have one locally stop by and see for yourself

http://www.rmhc.org/rmhc/index.html

And most of all when you children ride bikes, scooters, skateboards,
or rollerblade make sure they wear helmets.
They truly do save lives

Hopefully I will have good news to report soon but we
know this is going to be a long process.

I Thank you all once again for all your support and concern.
This thread has been my lifeline giving me strength when I
need it most.

John

All right troops, if you give blood I'll send you a set of Dean Markley Blue Steel Med/Light for Acoustic. They are my current favorite string.

It doesn't hurt and you get free juice and cookies. Take your IPod and listen to tunes.

You let me know when and where, I'll trust you. If you can get a cell phone camera pic, or any other digital pic, post them here.

PM me your address for the strings.

A terrible thing to happen - keep strong and think positive.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Someone gets my blood (AB Positive) every two months, Nick - and hang on to the strings. Or give my set to some kid for the upcoming holidays.

As John and Nick say, when you think you don't have something to contribute, you're only fooling yourself. Do what you can, folks. We're actually going to be discussing this in the next newsletter.

Peace
