I can host, I think. Never really done that before. I do have Audacity. If someone volunteers to let me bounce some MP3s off of them for mixing advice, I don't mind giving it a whirl.

I do have one track in mind. I've had it saved locally for 3 1/2 years. I think it's in D. Either that, or my ears are playing tricks. Either way, I just opened it up for probably the first time since I downloaded it and decided I couldn't play anything to it. Kind of 'Floyd-ish too, btw. Neat sounding. I can play to it now, btw.

So, is anyone game?

I am interested
But there is something fishy with the Guitar BT site, could not download the backing track.
Is it maybe the same Slow Blues backing that can be found here

Hey Roy,

Just a suggestion, but you may want to post the BT on your Soundclick page for easy access.

And yeah, you can count me in too. 8)

Kalle, that's close. Probably a shorter version of the one I'm listening to right now. Better instruments. Hmmmmmmm

Good point, Dan. :D

Ok, here's the proposed one that I initially brought up. If it sounds too Pick Floyd-ish, I can very easily go get another one from somewhere. Probably already have one or two downloaded already. :)

Let me know what you guys think.

I think this bt may have been used a few years back, but I have no problem with using it again.

Looks like the usual suspects have lined up again. 8)

I just found the guitar and amp sound combination that I will use;
My Stratocaster clone and the "..Crazy Diamond" preset in my V-Amp.
This backing track is a bit similar to the Pink Floyd song "Shine on you Crazy Diamond".
My estimation is that this a 4 verse song that is possible to split in 4 parts :
Part 1 is 00:06- 00:59
Part 2 is 00:59 - 01:53
Part 3 is 01:53 - 02:45
Part 4 is 02:45 - end (04:14)
/Kalle
PS but it should be possible to "cut and paste" and put in a "copy of part 3" between part 3 and part 4 or more places

I'll wait a day or so. I'll wait until maybe this time tomorrow. Gives people who only log into GN fromw ork to get a chance. We've got 5 now.

Roy
Vic
Kalle
Dan
AlMann

We've got 4 parts. We can do the 2-groups thing again if we need to. I was also thinking that some slicing and dicing could occur and we could patch in a 5th verse if no-one else wanted to jump in? I dunno.

Only need 3 more to make 2 - four person groups. 2-three person would be fine too. Verse 3 is a little short, so no big deal combining parts. Let's see how many we have that want to do this by Monday evening.

Oh, can someone verify for me? Is it indeed in D?

Hi Roy
I would say that the song is in Gm and has the chords Gm, C, D#,D, F# and F.
Gm Pentatonic scale is possible to use.

Hi everybody involved in this "pink floyd" jam.
I have cut out a mid part of the pink floyd recording of "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" and put up on my Box.net site.
http://www.box.net/shared/964udp7asv
Its a part that has guitar licks that can be used over this backing track.
It includes at least three different guitar solos with different sounds.
One is a background solo that repet itself over the whole song (you will understand what I mean).
I have a guitar sound that fits very good for this "backing solo" and could add that to the backing track in fitting places on all of the verses, that could be my part of this collab.
And then you guys will add your own "David Gilmore licks" over the four verses..
/Kalle
PS this pink floyd song has the same chords as the backing track..

I don't know about adding any David Gilmour licks, but I could add some cheesy "r- Parker" licks. Do you want to add this as fills after we've done our things?

Kalle, Are you talking about that bit of fill, that little signature riff, that looks like this in the book?

e-|----------0-----|
b-|----6-----------|
g-|-------0--------|
d-|-8--------------|
a-|----------------|
e-|----------------|

Yes
It is the "signature riff" I am talking about.
My idea was to do it before you have done your "things" , because that would make it possible for somebody to "respond" to the "signature riff". In pink floyds recording there is the sound of a much "rougher" guitar responding to the "riff" with just a stroke before the solos starts.
/Kalle
PS If you listen to the backing track you can hear that the bass guitar is playing something very close to the signature lick in the "right places".
