Just to be abslutely sure: it's really okay to just play a bunch of supporting notes without actually doing anything remotely fancy?

Yes, fancy or simple; note choice, note length and feel. It's a little hard to get a groove going when it's just one verse, but...that's the fun of it. Like a short advertisement that grabs you in the first few seconds.

The guitars will be a little less up front in the final mix though; maybe that'll bring the bass up a little.

Hey, is it ok if the bass playing is very basic? Given that I just got my bass this week, I have to rely on my basic guitar knowledge and probably just play something very basic..but I would like to take a shot. If that's ok, I will take the 5th slot.

You got it! Yah, it's fine if it's bassic.

'Bassic' get it?

And jrcri - I put you in the last spot. I know you've probably been busy or something so you didn't get my pm, but I hope that's okay.

Looks like we have a whole thing going on now!

Have fun!

By the way, is the rough mix, as it is, too hard to play along to? I could put another mix in that same place online, maybe something with less leads and more drums and rhythm guitar. I was going or a 'live jam mix' sort of thing where maybe there's the excitement of lotsa guys playing at the same time.

If it's good enough to work with, then fine :)

I am going to work on it a little this weekend, but I am not sure if it will be good enough. After that, I am gone for couple of weeks, so it may be a little while to get it done ...

Don't worry about it being not good enough or anything. Everything else was first-take; just think of a bunch of guys standing around playing,

On the other hand, don't feel rushed about it either. Take your time with it. :)

Sent you my part through email .. it was my second take.

(PS: Although I could hear the rhythm guitar when I just played the BT, it was hard to hear when I was playing along my bass...)

Mine's all worked out; borrowed heavily from Tommy Shannon.

Just gotta sit down to record it ... :)
