im off to do a search now for threads on ear training! Its a good job i supplied the backing track to this or i would have had no way of comming up with the chords myself!

"All you need is ears" ra ta ta ta taa

Find the bass note first - then try / listen for major / minor - then add numbers behind it if necessary. Simple as that
... after some years of practice of course :)

"after some years of practice"

This is why i admire people who progress at guitar. like many other things it is easy to pick up the basics but so hard to go beyond that without serious hard work and dedication. I visit this forum because i know the people who use it have put that necessary hard work in - it says a lot about somebody's character, and these are the types of people i like advice from.

anyway - one day ill get there!
or i might just take up tamborine

I cheated as I used a SW called Digital Music Mentor to analyse the chords of the song.
Its not perfect, but it will point you in the right direction.
But you still need to use your ears to get the right chord changes etc.

Hi - would anyone care to send me, or put up the file somewhere? I already have fra too many memberships and passwords and accounts, and I don't need one at soundclick too :-) (it seems I need to register to download the BT)

Lars I sent you a PM, if you give me your email address I will send you the backing track download. Didn't think the file would go on a PM as an attachment?

oh by the way - it has been brought to my attention this is not in A minor.
Sorry about that - i think the book the track came from was called something like improvising using A minor pentatonic or something like that - so i just assumed it was in A minor - which i now know it isnt. i think its in C?? of course you guys will know that already by now. guess i really need to brush up on my theory. sorry for the misleading post.

right, looks like i have everything. unfortunately it appears my version of magix only let me do a limited amount of mixdowns as it was a freebie in a magazine. so i have downloaded audacity and will probabaly need to sit down with it for an hour to figure out how to use it. i will get email you the mix by the end of the week. thanks guys.
