I recorded this backing track a while back with the intention of doing something with it, but never got around to it.
I was thinking of breaking it down into sections, but then though it might be interesting to just have whoever is interested do whatever they'd like with the whole track, and then I'd post them all when everyone's done for all to hear. Kinda like Smokindog's last idea, but no contest, as I think that's too hard to judge. I'll set the deadline for 6/1/07. I'll PM everyone who wants to give it a shot my email address for final submissions to be sent to. Any takers?

I'm in, nice break from all the blues jams.
Cool track. I'll give it a go. Something a little different to what i normally jam to. Gotta keep tryin' new stuff out.

This is maybe something for bass players to improvise on.

 Yes, it was a very wise person who suggested that I use this BT for a jam. Can't quite remember her name though...

:D Glad you finally posted it, Dan. It's got a great heavy sound.
It's very different than anything I've tried, so I might play around with it on my own just for the sake of stretching outside my comfort zone. Maybe take it to my lesson and see what my teacher does with it. Don't look for me to submit anything for posting though.

Don't be shy, Margaret. Give it a go. I'll be outside my comfort zone on this one.
We're all friends here.

Do with it what you will Margaret. If you change your mind later, just email me your submission. If not, that's cool too. 8)

Mine's in. Never soloed for that long before. Hope it melts faces, or at least makes them slightly less symmetrical.
Got it OWA. :D

Any chance you've got the key/progression so I've got a home base?

Hey Dan,
I've been on the fence with this one. Just couldn't decide if I
wanted to give it a shot. Last night I got home from work and
gave it a quick try.
Three hours later I was still messing with the mixing and getting
some strange effects.
I guess I'm in

You bet! It's in Drop D tuning, so that main pedal note is the low D. Chords in the "verse" are C, D, A, & G. Chords in the "chorus" are Bb, C, & D. I think it's in the key of D, (someone correct me if I'm wrong). "A" pentatonic sounds good over it too. Hope that helps. :D
