I have my metal jam track up on soundclick.com. I'm under the metal category and my "band name" is CHT. Hope to have my solo over a part of it up soon.

It was played in the key of D melodic minor (I think, I forget now hehe). All the harmonies are 4ths I think. It was recorded with a yamaha pacifica and a crate blue voodoo 120 watt head. The eq is flat, gain is around 3. No effects. Some scales you could use as a starting point are D gypsy, D melodic minor, D natural minor, and D blues/pentatonic.

Send your solos to me at littlelovepossumATgmail.com (obviously replace AT with @)

Here's the link. Go to it, then click music on the right. http://www.soundclick.com/cht

Enjoy, and rock on!

Cool, Kyle.

Never tried a blue voodoo before, didn't know they had that much gain. My local shop never has a tube Crate to try out. They are full up with the cheaper solid state ones.

Not sure, what you want us to do, Improv the whole tune with lead?

Ok. Yeah I'm noit sure I could even attempt to rip through that whole thing. I'd like to try what I can though. Just for fun. So please don't laugh.

No laughing at all man. What could work well with this tune are slower sustaining lines becuase the main riff is so fast.

You could solo over the whole tune, but that is brutally long, so maybe 30 second solos would work. Just don't go over 45 seconds becuase I'd like to fit around 3 solos on this track, but i could always increase the length if more people wanna join becuase that riff is just looped.

Yea the blue voodoo is cool. Not by any means a Rivera or anything, but for the price ($250 used) it smokes, and it definitly has "my" sound. Although I didn't eq on this tune, the mids are usually maxed and same with the lows, and it sounds pretty sweet. I can send you some playing samples if you like.

happy playing.

I love to criticize myself because I can hear all of my sloppiness and mistakes. Oh they are so there. But thanks for the compliment. I doubt if i will ever be satisfied.

Got mine in, I'm way out of my league here, metal just don't sound right with a pentatonic scale  --the dog

Can't progress if you don't try dog. Yer a brave man to admit your "perceived" boundaries and still plod on. A monument in itself, I'd say. 8)

That is a sign that you will keep getting better. If you think you're perfect, you should basically give up guitar.
