Latest Update:

Slot 1) 0:00 - 1:19 TheTallCoolOne *COMPLETED*
Slot 2) (Silence, will be removed)
Slot 3) 1:46 - 2:56 Boogie *COMPLETED*
Slot 4) 2:56 - 4:05 Bish *COMPLETED*
Slot 5) 4:05 - 4:44 ColoradoFenderBender
Slot 6) 4:44 - 5:28 Misanthrope *COMPLETED*

========================

So, myself and ColoradoFenderBender just missed out on Geoo's Pink Floyd jam and have started a parallel jam. The backing track is here (thanks Geoo!) and we have three spots to fill! Don't be shy :)

0 - 1:19
1:19 - 1:46 (silence, see below)
1:46 - 2:56
2:56 - 4:05
4:05 - 4:44
4:44 - end Misanthrope

CFB, any preference? or shall I just give you the last spot left?

The silence I'm not sure what to do with. If somebody wants to do something with that part, that'd be great. If you want to add it to the section before or after too, that's fine, I wouldn't want to deprive someone of a backed section when they're getting rid of an awkward problem. Failing that, I'll just ignore it, do the mix and then snip the long uncomfortable silence down to a musical slight refrain (and also rejig the timings so everyone still knows who's where in the final mix). Also open to other suggestions that don't involve me singing/rapping/yodelling/beatboxing/etc through it. Apart from not having a mic, you wouldn't want to hear it with the cold I'm suffering at the mo. Dark Side of the Moon-style effects are a little beyond me too

It's a new year, I've got a new guitar - no excuses :-)
- I'm signing up for this one.

I am pretty sure I know the tune ;-) Could as well take the first slot? ambitious?

Sounds like WYWH, won't it sound a bit busy playing over the guitar that's already there?

^ well, Gilmour managed to do it with some sucess so why shouldn't ... wait a sec. OMG

I see now that chords and scales mentions three spots - maybe those are the three after the silence?? or else, if he wants me up front I promise to be very gentle and careful just adding a few tones in between

I'll await further instrutions

It is WYWH but its the rhythm, lots of space for lead guitar in there.

I agree, lots of space in there. But, I don't plan on "overdoing" it. Seems to me that hanging back with some (hopefully) tasteful passages, in the right spots, would sound best. At least that's what I plan to do. 8)

Sheesh, I go out for a little jam and a drink with a mate leaving an empty thread, and when I get back after walking for an hour with my guitar (last bus never showed ) I have 1000 posts to sort through and a million slots to line up...

CFB: Second to last it is! I'm planning the same, as restrained as I can manage... :)

Lars: It was three slots 'cause I knew CFB wanted one of the four left, just not which one. You're welcome to any of them, of course, but for now I'll put you in the first under the assumption that you'd prefer that one... just shout if you'd rather have a different one.

Cnev: There's only rhythm there, what am I missing? Besides, you can always have the silence if you want it :)

Right, line up so far then. I've numbered the slots now including the silence, but see the original post to see what I have planned for that. If you don't get what I have planned just ignore my waffle about it - it's sorted

Long story short, Slots 3 and 4 still available.

Slot 1) 0:00 - 1:19 Lars
Slot 2) 1:19 - 1:46 (silence, see first post)
Slot 3) 1:46 - 2:56 -
Slot 4) 2:56 - 4:05 -
Slot 5) 4:05 - 4:44 ColoradoFenderBender
Slot 6) 4:44 - 5:28 Misanthrope

One of my goals for 2007 is to participate in a jam. I can't believe I am doing this so early in the year, but if you guys can put up with someone that has only been serious about guitar for a bit over a year, I'll take a slot.

Can I try the silence part? I have an idea I want to try.

Just need the track, I've never heard this song before.

All right, we are starting to fill up. Come on, grab the last spots people!

Boogie - welcome. No sweat that you have only been playing a year. This is for fun!

OWA - welcome to you too! But, let me understand - you want the track for the SILENCE PART?!? :P (Just teasing!)
