Hey everyone, I want to start a jam, but I don't want to "host", or at least host on my own. I found a nice backing track in the key of E ( http://www.bluesblast.com/lo_lo_v_slo_blues_e.mp3 )

Anyone game?

Hey duffmaster,

I'll help edit the jam for you if you'd like. You can still be the host since it's your idea. Why don't you download the bt, & post it on Soundclick for everyone intersted to download, and if you need help editing I'll give you a hand?

I have this backing track plus a version with guitar solo
Its a very slow 12 Bar 3 chord blues in E.
It could be fun to play with a slow EC type of solo
It can be found on http://bluesblast.com/index.html with lots of other BT´s
The direct link is http://www.bluesblast.com/lo_lo_v_slo_blues_e.mp3 possible to download.

The link Kalle provided opens as a Quicktime file for me, and I don't see the option to Save, or can't figure out how to do it anyway. Any tips on how to download it, or how to open it as a Windows Media Player file so I can save it?

Thx!

Right clicking brings up two options (Save as Source; Save as Quicktime Movie) that both appear to require purchasing something.

Is it just me, or is there some distortion in the bass line of this track? I have difficulty discerning what some of the notes are supposed to be, but maybe it's just too low of frequencies for me to hear well.

Hey Duff,

Nice Jam I thought about using this same one myself as host.

To help facilitate I posted this on my Sound Click page so it
can be downloaded from there if anybody needs to.
( That means you Margaret)

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=436239

As host you need to break to backing track into segments so
each jammer knows what segment to sign up for.

To do this listen to the track and watch the time to see where
the breaks are.

On this one I found it works something like this

Part 1 0 - 1:05

Part 2 1:06 - 2:03

Part 3 2:04 - 3:00

Part 4 3:01 - End

These times are somewhat approximate as sometimes a note at
the end of one may sustain into the next but it usually works out.

Then everyone signs up for a segment and the fun begins.

Many of us use Audacity as our recording and mixing format.
It is a free download and easy to use. If I can do it anybody
can. Just Google Audacity and links will come up for you.

(Don't forget to download the lame file for you will need this
to convert to MP3)

You should also have a place to post the finished jam so everybody
can hear it. Most of us tend to use Sound Click but there are others
(DMusic,PutFile and I'm sure many more)

It would help to read the "Stickys" at the top of the page to
get the logistics of how one of these works. There is a lot of
good information to be found there.

I hope this helps and as always

Happy Jammin'

John

Part 1: 0 - 1:05
Part 2: 1:06 - 2:03
Part 3: 2:04 - 3:00 Evan
Part 4: 3:01 - End

Thanks celt for splitting that up for me. 3 spots are still open, please let me know where you plan on going.

I already have audacity and a soundclick, and am rarrin to go with those.

Fill those three spots, and start recording

Thanks again

Evan

OK I waited to see if anybody jumped in on this.

I'll take the last part if that's OK.

You are right, Margaret.
There is distortion in the bass line of this track.

What web browser do you use ?
I am using Firefox for everything except Internet bank affairs where I need to use Internet Explorer.
