I used to see the video on VH1. There was a program for classic songs and recordings. Currently they change the hour and I can not watch it. I like the Eric Burdon's face in that video. He seems a bad child.
This song was also one of the first I learnt in my second era. I like very much the progression of this song. It is incredible how can create and release the tension. Great song.
Eric Burdon was much more than the Animals. If you can find a copy, listen to his LP, together with Jimmy Witherspoon.
For a version, much closer to the original "Rising Sun Blues", which was a prostitute's tale of life in a brothel, listen to this:

I don't understand Japanese, but the emotion is palpable.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

The Stones own "Like A Rolling Stone"......? Sorry, much as I love the Stones, no-one will ever top the original version. The Stones? Good version, yes - but nowhere near Dylan's. It's just one of those songs that should be left alone. Unless your name's Bob Dylan. And the state his voice is in these days, even he should leave it alone.
Agree with you 100% re "Watchtower" though! Hendrix did make the definitive version - in the same way that Joe Cocker took "I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends" and made it his own.

Actually the original copyright registered only the name of the keyboard player, Alan Price, due to the manager not wanting to take the time to write down all the names of the band members, as it was a group composition.
... excuse me, group arrangement.
Yet another reason not to trust managment. 8)
