Hi guys,
Been playing acoustic for about 2 years now, feel its time to purchase an electric but dont know where to start!! Any hints/tips for a decent one for under £200?

As you already play, my advice would be to go to the closest/biggest/best music shop and try every single guitar in there that's at or under your budget, and take home the one you like the most. At the end of the day, it's you that's going to be playing it.

Two problems with a post like this, first of all you're going to find someone who bought a particular guitar and loves it, whereas someone else might have the same guitar and think it's a waste of money.....
And secondly, a little more information on what type of music you're going to play - blues? rock? metal? etc....
For £200 you should be able to get a decent electric - as well as trying out music stores, I'd try second-hand shops as well - you can often find a hidden gem or two there.
If you haven't already got an amp, make sure you try any instrument through an amp that'll approximate the sound you want to get....and ask the assistants for advice, that's what they're there for....
