Nah, I didn't, lol. I was thinking he said "ring finger to thumb". ...hmm well it's still weird it'd be longer (ring finger to thumb).

I'll do pink to index finger now. I can reach 6th fret...about halfway through.

Kevin ,

The idea is to use the fingers of only ONE hand at a time ! Just kidding !

If I claim to be a wise man , it surely means that I don't know .

Index to pinky, I get 6 frets, pinky to thumb I get 8 frets. It's almost dead center each way.

Man, I just looked at this thread, what a hoot! Now I'm going to have to pull out my Johnson and see how much of it I can cover with my hand.

(I've got all day to work on hand stretching exercises.)

I'm at work, no guitar. My hand stretches from the left side of the S key to the right side of the Enter key.

That means that your hand is slightly longer than mine. On my keyboard my left hand stretches from the left side of the S key to the right side of the " key (stretching from pinkie to thumb. And from the S key to the L key going from pinkie to index.) So, just guessing, I'd say you were about a 7 on Vic's scale and a 6 on Diceman's. Approximately.

How many frets does your Johnson have on it?

I can just stretch from the nut to the 9th fret.

And it's really just about to the 9th fret wire, with each hand.

Now we've got to talk about scale lengths. The Johnson's got a 25 1/2" scale.
