Wow!

I was JUST talking about The Banana Splits show today with a co-worker!

I was trying to explain about The Sour Grapes Bunch 8)

He had never heard of them

The Arabian Knights, Danger Island (with Jan Michael Vincent!)

My parents were 'members' of the Banana Splits Club.
They claimed to have been to the Amusment park that they filmed the opening/close at.... somewhere in Ohio I think.

'68.... that answers that for me.
I told him it was from the late 60's.
Based on TV shows going color in 67, and the 'Go-Go' dancing Sour Grapes Bunch.

Cool (%

Thankx Nick.

Ahh, The Banana Splits, brings back memories. :D I used to watch them & The Monkeys all the time when I was a youngling. :)

Well, the Banana Splits haven't been working for awhile, I'm sure they could use the money from Bob Marley's estate to get back on their feet. :P   So, Bob was into the Bananas.. who wasn't?!

What a hoot! I've been saying it's impossible to invent a new melody.

I'd've sworn The Banana Splits went back a little earlier than 1968.

This has got to be old news. The similarity has always been obvious. I thought Buffalo Soldier was a parody or a DJ comedy remix the first couple times I heard it. Must have been a very slow news day.

I remember thinking "Banana Splits" first time I heard "Buffalo Soldier" - the BS theme was the first tune I ever learned on recorder!

:D :D :D

I still sing the Banana Splits song to this day! I used to LOOOOVE them.
I love how they put all of the "evidence" in the article. "So and So says that the resemblance is striking!".....NO! Really?

Oh wow, I forgot about the Banana Splits. I used to love that show.
Don't know if Bob Marley ever saw it but there's nothing new under the sun. If you write enough, eventually something of yours will sound like someone else's.

All my life I wanted to be somebody. Now I see I should have been more specific.

unstubstantiated rumor: Snorky was an early follower of the Rastafari movement and introduced its tenets to Fleegle, Bingo and Droopy*.

* the really small print: this in no way is meant to minimize or impune the Rastafar movement or its adherents.
