Time to grab that beloved beverage we call beer. Doesn't matter what language you speak, it's “ummmmmmmm, now that hit the spot!”

In the words of the great Homer Simpson, “Ummmmmmm beeeeeeeeeeeer.”

SO, what is the beer you reach for? Why?

What are your first, second and third preferences?

Please include country, for some (ok, me  in the states) might not have access to it.

Budweiser, bud light, USA.

There's something about it, just tastes better.

Prefered

1. Guinness.
2. Bud Light
3. Free Beer

:D

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- "WOW--What a Ride!"

Being a Queenslander ( in Australia )

my choices are......

1/ XXXX ( Gold ) or spelt Fourex

2/ XXXX ( Gold ) or spelt Fourex

3/ XXXX ( Gold ) or spelt Fourex

4/ Mocona Coffee or if there none in the house XXXX (Gold )

Reasons why beacuse it tatses so lovely and when I drink it my wife always lets' me know exactly how many I have had so that takes the risk of me forgetting she will always say " You know that one will be your 5 th " and so on ......

Gotta love a beer that comes with a counter built in so you can't drink too much of it ( ha ha ha )

Aghhhh

Where do you start in a country that has over 2500 commercial breweries - and that excludes the in-house micro-breweries and there are plenty of those around.
Locally obtainable and locally brewed beers:
Augustiner Edelstoff, Airbräu (micro-brewery at Munich airport), Fischer, Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner, Andechser, Auer - either Helles, Pils or Wiezenbier (Weissbier, wheat beer)
Locally obtainable:
Budweiser (the REAL Budweiser), Pilsner Urquell.
Occasionally obtainable:
Wies'n special brews (Wies'n = Oktoberfest), Maibock
Then, there are the beers that I like to drink, when I'm away from home:
A good Northern pint of real bitter (few of the major breweries produce it any more).
Most Belgien beers (Stella Artois is the bottom of the pecking order, here)
Chang or Singha in Thailand
and too many more to even think of naming at this time in the morning

...............I also like a glass of wine ...................

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Guinness, Heineken or Carlsberg. These are all available in Holland...

I totally forgot about Heineken in Holland - best chased with a few glasses of Oude Genever.

I have tried a lot of beers in a lot of countries but I will only list the ones I drink regularly and can buy locally without hunting.

1) Killian's Irish Red
2) Pete's Wicked Ale
3) A tie between Newcastle and Yuengling

And I do like a few of the Saranac beers from upstate NY.

My favorite meal consists of a Scotch on the rocks to start, Steak and baked potato (w/ lots of butter) and two Killian's. Afterwards I may have a beer or two.

Hertog Jan, Gulpener Gladiator, Karmeliet Triple. First two are readily availlable in Holland, the third one is not. In general I prefer the stronger/darker beers. I usually don't drink that much so I don't have to worry about alchohol percentage. It's the quality that matters, not the quantity. ;)

Oh, if the UK meeting goes trough I'm sure I can take some Dutch beer for educational purposes. :D
