That's just silly. Anyway, if you've ever worked in a chemistry lab you know that Chromium VI (chromic acid and chromates) on your strings in harmful concentrations would visibly stain your fingertips. Chromium III is hardly nontoxic, either. Both need to be rinsed off. If you're still worried about contaminated strings, stick 'em under the faucet before you put 'em on. That'll quickly take care of any Chromium VI or Chromium III salts that may be there.

Heck, I spent much of the morning playing a whole guitar that was made in China. No telling what I'm contaminated with now. :lol:
