OK, so we had a little fun with the 70's and 80's last week. The young people got to hear us old farts ramble on about memories. They listened politely as they imagined the horrors of Barry Manilow and Debbie Gibson dominating the pop charts.

So, by request, it's their turn. What are your favorite 90's tunes? As always, I'll apply some silly rules that you can either follow or not.

#1: At least 5.
#2: At least 2 different genres. Well, sub-genres I guess.
#3: No boy-bands.  OK, if you must.....

In no order, mine.....
Come With Me - Puff Daddy (or p-diddy or whatever he's calling himself these days)
MMM, MMM, MMM, MMM - Crash Test Dummies
Friends In Low Places - Garth Brooks
Saint Of Me - Rolling Stones
Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve
One Headlight - The Wallflowers

OOOOH, the 90's - The Spice Girls! Take That! Boyzone! Westlife! Everything I Do Always Love You Is All Around! Drool!

Scuse me - time for my medication. Now where was I? Oh yes, the 90's......
Saint Of Me - Rolling Stones Great pick, Roy, I'm with you on that one - Bridges to Babylon was probably my most-played CD of the decade, along with "Stripped."

Under The Bridge - RHCP
Wonderwall - Oasis
Song 2 - Blur
When The Man Comes Around - Johnny Cash (funny, the first time I heard that was on the soundtrack of "The Hunted" - Tommy Lee Jones film that just happened to be on TV last night. More synchronicity, CitiZenNoir?)
Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden

They're the only songs from that decade that I can actually think of at the moment without reaching for the pepto-bismol, anyway....

:D :D :D

I'm with you on Stripped. Love In Vain and the Like A Rolling Stone cover are so awesome on that CD. Heck, it's all good.

OK, one confession as to my lack of touch with recent music. I had never heard Oasis until a recent YouTube visit after seeing them mentioned all over the place on this forum. I wiki'd it too. Seems they've sold something like 50 million albums? Man, do I feel out of touch.

Toughie this one. I was stuck in a bad relationship with the first Mrs Green for most of the 90s and there was sooooooo much rubbish on the radio.

Brian May - the first half of his first solo album
Rush - anything off Counterparts
Big Country - Long Way Home, Ships, The Hostage Speaks ("...and the children hold machine guns for the man from CNN")
4 Non Blondes - What's Up
Ace Of Base - All That She Wants
Oasis - Look Back In Anger

S'about it, I think. what a dreadful decade. I didn't get into Nirvana or Pearl Jam until after the millenium so I'll accept there was some decent stuff around.

A :-)

I've never been much of a radio listener, so I'm not sure if this stuff got much play or not:

Under Your Skin Luscious Jackson
Wandering Star Portishead
Cuts You Up Peter Murphy
Protection Massive Attack
Dogs of Lust The The
Down on the Riverbed Los Lobos

:)
