Hi.
Hmmm...
I got it... the Niels...
Neil Shawn - Journey
Neil Gerrardo - Pat Benatar
Oh and Gary moore as a "blues" Player? Nah, he just plays blues
Uh, in the 70's he was in and out of Thin Lizzy.
I used to know his song The End of the World - but that was like Decades ago. Still have the Blues is really nice though
My Favorite Unknown Guitarist is That Guy in That Band... you know who
it is....... :P
I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but when
you're a 22lb sledge, do you really have to be?
Jeff Healey - he can tear it up AND he's blind. If you've not seen him, he plays on his lap like a Dobro.
Jeff Is a local boy..I've been to see him a number of times. He plays rock style every Thursday and jazz on Saturdays at a club he owns here in Toronto
Awesome guitarist

The 2 Neils; well, one is Neal, the other is Neil (I think), but yah, the Journey guy - Schon I think you spell it - always gets ragged because he was in Journey, a "Power Pop" band that people variously hate and envy. I don't envy or hate them, but Neal could freegin rip when he wanted to, and the stuff always 'somehow' came out melodic and memorable. Well thought out solos that just incidentally included some max shred stuff.
Geraldo on the other hand - really invisible due to his wife, but his solos were also extremely well thought out and timed. He only left himself short spaces in the arrangements, but what he did in those spaces fit perfectly. I got a chance to see them live in Honolulu in '83 I think it was; he had a real rock attitude and stage presence and played everything pretty much note for note.
On Squiers!
Anyhow, my vote (aside from agreeing wholeheartedly with Buchanan - who left us way too soon) is for Rick Derringer. For a good picture of him, take a look at the Johnny Winter And Live album cover - he's the one that looks like a blurred hourglass, lol. :)
While I can't stand Journey, I give Neal Schon a pass due to the fact that he played with Santana. That's a redeeming quality in my book.

Yah, plus he had that HAIR at one point, lol.

"It's all about stickin it to the man!"
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
I've always thought Nuno Bettencourt was fabulous.
Another obscure person I've always thought had so many great solos that fit with the songs was Elliot Easton of the Cars. He was definitely in the shadows of Rick Ocasik(sp?)
Dave
Sometimes in life you get shown the light,
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.
Man forgot all about Easton, speaking of being in the shadows Andy Fairweather Low has stood in E.C's shadow for quite awhile
