I find all of the John Williams stuff amazing;

Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Jurassic Park
Jaws
Superman

Also, Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings music was great.

You do know that the Star Wars Theme is something like Born Free backwards, right? I think David pointed that out when we were at university all those years ago ...

All of a sudden I have a number of recent "sightings of the famous" stories for you, Taso: Nick and I saw Karen Allen (1st Indiana Jones Heroine) in her store in the town near David's home. Apparently, she's now off to LA filming the fourth installment in that "trilogy" this summer.

Dazed and Confused;
That's another that is in my "road tunes" CD carrier.
Some fun classic rockers on that one.

I wrapped a newspaper ’round my head
So I looked like I was deep

I personally love the 60's James Bond soundtracks,by John Barry (but also the original Casino Royale by Burt Bacharach is excellent). By the way George Martin composed the Live and Let Die score too.
what else? I love the great Lalo Schifrin scores (Mission Imposible, Bullit, Enter the Dragon, and my personal favorite the Mannix tv show title theme)..and of course all those Ennio Morricone gems (the 60's spaguetti western with Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef, The Mission, etc).
Wim Wenders movies soundtracks are full of stars too: Until the End of the World, Paris, Texas, Faraway so Close.
Does anyone here have seen Dario Argento cult horror movies?? I want to have all the soundtracks, composed by a progressive rock group called Goblin (but in one movie ,Inferno, Keith Emerson was the composer).
..and why not? Saturday Night Fever(which connect with the Guilty Pleasures thread).
Scores by Danny Elfman are a must (specially the first Spiderman).

last but not least::..the great Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire scores by Vangelis!
and Risky Business by Tangerine Dream :))))

What, no-one's mentioned the Blues Brothers yet? I reckon the soundtrack to BB2000 was as good as, if not better, than the original movie....I mean where else are you going to see (deep breath.......) Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, Steve Winwood, Skunk Baxter, Gary US Bonds, Clarence Clemons, Isaac Hayes, Dr John, Billy Preston, Lou Rawls, Koko Taylor, Travis Tritt and Jimmie Vaughan on the same stage? As well as the fabulous Blues Brothers Band, BB King, James Brown, Aretha, Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett, and Sam Moore?

:D :D :D

Very cool - again. :P I am anxiously awaiting the 4th Indiana Jones.

I've never heard that about the Starwars theme. Gonna check it out.

The soundtrack from the movie Holes.

Artists such as D Tent Boys, Eels, Moby, Eagle Eye Cherry, Pepe Deluxe, North Mississippi All-Stars, Dr. John, etc.

You can't listen to this soundtrack and not feel good. 8)

And those are all artists that I own nothing else by, and had never heard of most of them prior to this movie.

The soundtrack of 'Elizabethtown' has some nice stuff on it - just bought the DVD today so I can rewatch it - nice story too.
O brother where art thou? is also a favourite of mine - it seems very popular here.
I like the soundtrack of THe Wonder Boys - some good songs by Dylan on there. :)

Yep, he was in the Blues Brothers band. Didn't think I needed to name-check them individually - but when you've got talent like Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and Willie Hall in your band, they're bound to rock! What was it Cropper said in the original film? Something about a rhythm section that could turn goat-piss into gasoline? That line always made me smile.

As a side note, I don't know how many people around here have read any books by Terry Pratchet - especially the Discworld Series - but there's a lot of references to the Blues Brothers in "Soul Music." Even the original cover's a mickey-take of "Bat Out Of Hell."

:D :D :D

Don't talk to me about Terry Pratchet. Mandy, (the wife) has everything he has written and when she picks one of them up she'll be sitting in the corner all quiet and reading when all of a sudden she'll start giggling, then stop then giggle again and son and so on right through the whole book.
Imagine this, I was asked to tape "Hogfather" off the TV last Christmas. The wrath I had to endure three days later when it was discovered I had taped something completely different was not a pretty sight.
I did think to ask why didn't you set the VCR then ? Thought better of it :roll:

All's well though, it was on again last week 8)
