Currently I have a Washburn electric guitar (don't know the model or anything, but it has the same body as an Ibanez RG (or very similar) and I got it used for $100) And a 15W Marshall MG series CDR amp.

I'm currently studying in China right now and won't get back till July. I was planning on buying a guitar when I got back to the US in July. One of my cousins is offering to give me his Behringer amp for free. It's something like this:

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/GTX60.aspx

Except he said it's 120W. I don't see the 120W one on their website so I picked this one out. I think that's a good ampbut my issue is the guitar. I want to buy a new guitar, but I'm not sure if I should get a floyd rose or not. I love the Ibanez RG Tremolo guitars but I think they all have floyd rose and a lot of people including my cousin keeps telling me not to get it. For my purposes it seems like I don't need it. I never use the whammy and don't even know what a divebomb is. I want to learn them but my cousin keeps telling me that the pros aren't worth it. I do mainly play rhythm, so I don't mind not getting a floyd rose.

But which guitars can I get are good but don't have a floyd rose? I'm not too content with my washburn. I really love the Ibanez RG shape and the Jackson DK2 style body, but it seems they all have floyd rose. I particularly want the RG body, nice finish with matching headstock, sharktooth inlays, wizard/jem neck, but NO floyd rose. are there any guitars like this? Thanks.

Any Schecter would be an excellent choice... for example:
Hellraiser Avenger:

or Hellraiser C-1

You would be hard pressed to find a guitar for the same price that can compete with Schecter's quality.

Hmm those are some nice guitars. I didn't want to limit myself to only Ibanez, but I really really love the Ibanez shape for some reason lol. Are the pickups on the schecters better than the Ibanez? The blue ibanez mentioned above is good but it doesn't have the sharktooth inlays. It has pretty much everything else I want though.

The Hellraiser C-1 has EMG Active 81TW/89 pickups. Not sure what you define as "better" (since taste in pickups is relative to your ears/playing)... but... they are very very good pickups.

Most towns have at least one guitar store that carries Schecter... I think Guitar Center carries them too. Best to check one out in person.

There is a good Schecter forum where you could ask questions about the models... but, obviously, if you ask "is it better than an Ibanez" you can pretty much expect a biased opinion

There are lots of deals out there... don't forget to check used prices as well. Craigslist and Kijiji (www.kijiji.com) are always a good place to start. If you are new to guitars, make sure you bring someone along when looking at used guitars that know what to look for, and evaluate it for you.

I got my Schecter for half of retail by buying it used (1 year old, never played - still had film on the back/pickups/etc).

Good luck!

It depends on your price range :D If you are somewhat short on budget, I'd recommend something from PRS or Charvel.

In the mid-range you've got Fender Deluxe American... the S-1 feature is really nice as it gives you a lot of tone versatility (and may or may not sound like a regular strat, depending on your configuration). It comes with a whammy.

Now, if you are talking about high/loose budget, please consider something from Ernie Ball's Musicman. The new Steve Morse Y2D is beautiful, extremely well made and very comfortable. Besides it has an amazing tone and plenty of tonal options and you have the option to get it with or without FR (and is now out of my budget I'm afraid :()

I got a chance to buy a Y2D last year, but the salesperson handling my purchase in Guitar Center (NY store) was with a really bad attitude and so I decided to take my money somewhere else. Unfortunately I couldn't find another promptly available and had to settle to something else. On the other hand I came to know Manny's in NY and I loved their service and handling.

Hope you find what you're looking for!
