I was reading a bit about Albert Collins and apparently he used to tune his guitar to Fminor and he also put a capo on the guitar.

Don't really know why he put a capo on..... or if it affects the sound.

Does anyone know any other strange tunings/tricks that any famous guitar players use?

together we stand, divided we fall..........

if e.g. he had trouble singing in the key of E (which would utilise open strings)putting a capo on allows him to use those open strings in a key he's comfortable singing in.

he also used to have a seriously huuuuuugggggggeeeeee lead, and would wander the crowd mid-gig.

Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

had, not has, since he's sadly no longer with us.

but he did aso do a great rendition of I Aint Drunk (I'm Just Drinkin') on a live album from 92-93 thats commercially available. the solo on that tune includes a guitar version of two drunks chatting in a bar. he really gets into it on that disc, you'd never guess how ill he was by listening to it.

kewl guy. ice kewl. 8)

you guys might like this. I have the show on videotape somewhere, and went youtubeing for it last night. there's a guitar lesson right there, lol, and some close ups of Collins with the capo pretty high up. He also tended to play with his strap off one shoulder, instead of the 'usual' across the shoulderblades way. enjoy!

I love BB's rebuke at the end - rofl! he's possibly the only guy who could sass them like that and get away with it.

I saw an interview with Buddy Guy where he says that he stole the idea from Collins.
In another movie, I say Buddy Guy using the 100+ foot cable. He has a forklift lower him down form the stage (probably a 10 foot high stage in a stadium) and then he prowled thru the audience, accompanied by a roadie who managed the cable :)

I notice in the video Scrybe linked to, that both are using wireless.
