Aye, I have to concede that it's "Less", or at least it should be. You can find a few episodes of "Les Paul and Mary Ford, At home with..." on YouTube with that pronounciation. (I was looking for an interview with Slash where he mentioned the name - I'm sure he pronounces it "Lez" - but no luck)

Still, at least you guys from that side of the pond will now be ready for everyone to pronounce it "Lez" when you come to this side :)

Rahul: Still waiting! I've always pronopunced it "Ra-Hool" myself

Ra-hool or ra-ool?
I think it's pronounced like Warren Zevon wanted it in "Werewolves of London" Ra-Hooooooooooooooooooool

That's how I'm going to pronouce it from now on.

Hmm , my name ?

Maybe i should make a recording at soundclick saying my name.

Name's can certainly be cool.

I used to say 'Arjen' as 'Arjen' only and later came to realise (while watching the FIFA 2006 ) that it is actually pronounced as 'Aryen'.

In my name , you don't have to make huge efforts. The 'hul' part has to be said as you say 'full'.

So I've been mis-pronouncing Arjen too, I have to get better with names. I guess I can blame it on my accent though.

Yeah, I screwed up Arjen as well.

Man, I can't believe we have a three-page thread about how to pronounce "Les".

Only in a guitar forum...

Alright, we're going to need some lessons on names here by the looks of it.

I'll start.

Off He Goes---

"Off" Ryhmes with "Cough"

"He" Sounds like "She"

&

"Goes" This one is kind of trick guys, it's similar to "shows".

But hey, you can just call me Paul...of Pohl for my french friends.

:D

Like this "prat"
Classically, it would probably be "ingvee", with no part dominating (no "short" ing and "long" vee, or vice versa), but I like my pronunciation better
We need Steinar, he comes from that part of the world.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

I think you are correct Mr. Shows. Umm... Goes...

"The" is spoken like "The"

"Dali" is spoken like "Da" "Lee"

"Lima" is spoken like "Lee" and "Ma (like your mom, "Ma")"

"The Da-Lee Lee-Ma"

Is that a song?

I was taught that it was tha before a consonants and
thee before vowels.

And since everybody seems to be setting the record straight
I pronounce Celt with the hard C as if it were K.

So that would be Tha Kelt

Wait, it's "Ra - FULL" ??? !!! ??? !!!

j/k

Of course, as everyone knows, slejhamer is pronounced " slay - ohm - ire ."

But you have to say the "ire" part from the gut, as if you were a pirate saying "aarrgh!"

So it's more of an " iirgh! " Long "i" as in ice, not igloo. Helps to have a parrot on your shoulder.

And ideally the ohm part should be drawn out, as if you were meditating. You know, "ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmm."

Grrrrrrr...as in the noise a dog makes just before sinking his teeth into your leg.
ey......as in "Ay, get off my leg"
bear........as in beer (Mmmmmmmmmmmm, beer!)
d...........as in the the beginning of D'Oh (a deer, a female deer, Ray a drop of..........er, sorry, got carried away, there)
