My hands are cracking up again, I have eczema have had it since I was a kid. It often stops me playing guitar, or means I play less because it hurts. Quite often barre chords are completely off limits. I love playing guitar so it really is annoying that I have this problem with my hands.

Fleaaa....so sorry to hear of your hand problems. you are a killer guitar player and it must be awful to feel compromised.
what kind of meds, topical, are available?
not to hijack the thread, but my tendonitis in both arms and hands grow worse and worse. in the moring my hands are like rusty hinges. after yard work my arms are painful. when practicing solos my left hand cramps up and turns into a lobster claw until I can relax it with ice and massage.
to quote a Who lyric ' hope I die before I get old' .

I have oil for the bath, balneum.
Use bodyshops hemp cream a lot which I like.
The doctor recently gave me some steroid cream which I think was Betnovate.

I have used all sorts from the doctors but the doctors stuff is generally quite bad for you though it does often work quite well. So I don't know about that.

yeah. the herbal balms can do wonders; I would think it is good for maintenance using it often.
sometimes when things get worse the symptoms often exacerbate itself making for an infection
and other problems. perhaps that is when a good ol' steroid can give it a got knock so haling can begin.
when ya can't play the guitar is when you want to the most.
hope you get better quickly.

Hope this gets better soon...

I had problems with eczema about a year ago, and the one thing I found helped was bee propolis ointment, I got it from:-

I hate my hands, too. Not exczema, but arthritis. Started about a year ago. I'm not taking anything for it yet, and I'm not even sure if there's anything you can do about arthritis.....apart from keeping those fingers mobile, and nimble. They've never been that nimble, and now they probably never will - maybe it's time for the copper bracelet?

it's not a problem yet, and hopefully it won't be a serious problem for some time....but I've always got a back-up plan. If I can't move my fingers to make chords, well hell, I'll just have to concentrate on slide guitar....only got to control one or two fingers then!

all I can say is, good luck with it Adam - hope it doesn't become too much of a problem.

:D :D :D
