mmmm.
I want to get that. They are expensive, though.
I'm thinking about selling my Gibson Les Paul Classic (AAA top) with its pick guard signed by the recently deceased Les Paul.
How much do you think I could get for that?
Gawd, the ES-335's have always been expensive. Beautiful, desirable, and hard-to-touch with anything but a Heritage IMO, subject to the great debate I'm sure  . But anyhow, I bought nearly every clone on the market, Samick and Washburn, Guild (excellent) and Epiphone Dot LTD AAA among them, until I sort of caved in and bought an Ebony Lucille, Gibson, still cheaper than the ES series. And again, IMO, Lucille has more features, so what gives?
Well your Les Paul is a good one as you know, not a Premium Plus I guess, which go for $2000 and more. Yours can fetch $1500 - $1900 in the best of circumstances, right place, right time, plus $200 for the signed pickguard. I'd love to have it but can't. 8)
Good luck, but I'd keep the LP.

It is a premium plus. I haven't used those words since I bought the thing :P Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus with AAA top, I think, was the full name.
Do you think it'd be worth more if I attached the pick guard to the guitar, or doesn't matter?
Wow .... you'ld part with that Les Paul? I suppose if you are jonesing for that ES but geeze! :?

well the main reason is it doesn't have the double cutaway, which I think does me a disservice. I'm looking at other Double cutaway guitars (SG, for example), ES335 is just the one I'm in love with right now.
Do want you feel is right with the guitar, but don't ever sell the Les Paul signature - that's madness.
By the way, most people reckon that the Heritage 535 is a better guitar than the Gibson and far cheaper.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Maybe replace the signed pickguard before selling?

I wouldn't put a pickguard on a guitar that didn't have one, especially an LP Premium Plus.
It would seem too unoriginal and contrived, even moreso with the signature, so leave as-is. 8)

Please disregard my previous question. I mis-read your posts.

Oh, IC. Still though, if it were me, I'd have trouble parting with that signed pick guard. It would bring you $$$ though.

if you've ever enjoyed playing that LP, one day you will regret parting with it. probably until you are senile and drooling -- and even then, it may be the only thing you think about. keep the LP, work up some patience and find another way to get your 335.

damn. I'm not going to lie, this has me putting the brakes on my plan, or at least taking more time to think about it.
i went to guitar center just to check things out, see if it was even worth thinking about....Damn, it is. The guitar sounds incredibly awesome, and the double cutaway is really a world of improvement over my les paul.
you could save yourself a fair amount of money by getting a used (or even new!) Ibanez John Scofield model -- or the even less expensive AS200 non-signature version (used, no longer made). these guitars are/were based on the ES-335, and are considered better than 335s by many.

That guitar is only going to be worth more over time, specially with a pickguard signed by Les Paul :O.
