The way the description is , i feel that all worries die after having ebow.
I am so surprised.Seems kinda delirious......
Surprisingly enough, it is real.
Surprisingly enough, it is real.
Have you used it ?
It's been used by many top acts like U2 and REM. I've tried it once but it seems to be something you'll have to get used to, definitely not something you'd pick up and create the most awesome sounds in a minute. Interesting gadget though.
I have, and Arjen is right, it takes some getting used too.
I've got one although I don't use it much. It's really a whole new way to approach the instrument, and you'd need to practice it as much as you need to practice picking or fingerstyle to get good. The article says you can mimic other instruments with it, and that's true, but you can't just pick it up and sound like whatever you like. You need to learn new skills to mimic stuff. It really is an amazing device, but it would take lots of practice to get good with it.
Mine seems to produce a lot of distortion when I use it, but I don't recall it doing that when it was new, so I think it may be just be caused by a low battery. I'm really not sure though.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure it is the battery, since its status light dims whenever I get loud with it. As soon as I get a 9v battery I'll tell you if it cleans up.
EDIT Nr. 2: It's much better with the new battery.
EBows do take a lot of practice if you want to get very good at using one. Kind of like anything, really  But you can start using it immediately and they can add a lot to a jam, particularly if there are a lot of other guitarists. They're a lot of fun, too.
And they've been around quite a while. That's an ebow being used in David Bowie's Heroes, I think from the late 1970's.
Peace
Ha ha nick , you changed the name of the forum 8)
We all deserve a free coffee now
Big Country used e-bows extensively on their first few albums. Great stuff.
Best,

Anybody tried using one with a slide?

Anybody tried using one with a slide?
It's kind of like a theremin, except I can play it. Using a slide tends to create more high harmonics, and sometimes you get stuck on one so it sounds rather than the fundamental.
Sounds interesting.
I'd've tried one of these things a long time ago if they weren't kind of pricey.

Petrucci (Dream Theater) used one of those on Space Dye Vest off the Awake album. I love the sound he gets with it, mixed really well with the prominent keyboards that DT uses.
