we all know the johnny cash version...powerful stuff
for those who dont know the original...here it is in all its glory
I don't think the johnny cash version is better because it's less, I think it's better because he's a better singer, and the johnny cash version has a faster tempo, johnny cash sounds extremely sincere too, course the wind noise is kind of annoying too, it's kind of amazing how different the two versions are considering how little was changed between the two.
Cash is good, but I prefer Reznor on this one.

yeah, I prefer the NIN version. I don't think either one is 'better', they both take a different perspective on the song. NIN's version sounds, to me, more hopeless, depressed and 'raw'. Oh, is it just me or does the sound quality seriously blows in this clip?
I'm biased on this subject ..
Nothing better than listening to Cash in my opinion ...
Maybe AC/DC's " Its' a Long way to the top "
But put me down for Cash on this subject
Just my opinion
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
That's the first time I've actually heard the NIN original - I like it. Some people might say that only the composer of a song can really feel it, but I reckon JC's version is just as good. Little to choose between them, IMO....
:D :D :D

Vic: yeah, those are probably the same people that say Bob Dylan shouldn't cover All Along The Watchtower.

Yeah ... and about that Stringsteen cover of Blinded by the Light ....

someone told me reznor broke down when he first heard the cash version.
Cash is good, but I prefer Reznor on this one.
Ditto...... Cash's version has that stark me and just a guitar, man in the end of his life reflective sadness. Reznor has more the pathetic desperation/hopelessness of man who should be in his prime and some dissonance. I am pretty sure the video is of a live version. The wind noise isn't as loud through out on the record.
It's not easy being green.... good thing I'm purple.
