OK... with all this "how many is enough" talk I thought it would be fun to see what you would each choose if you ONLY had one guitar... this thread is for ELECTRIC.

The poll listings are supposed to be generic, so if you love your G&L Legacy then check off "Stratocaster". If you love your Agile 3000, click Les Paul.

Wow , that's like saying pick one finger and cut off the rest
Right now because the only guitar i have that ranks as a "high end",
or top of the line type is my Strat USA 50th Anniversary Dlx.
It plays sooo nice.
But after Jan when the new Taylor Electric is released i may want to change that

Semi-hollow, most versatile IMHO. I assume it comes with a MIDI output? :D

You all know I LOVE my Strats!!!!

And they are pretty versatile guitars.

I think if I could only have ONE electric though, it would have to be a Telecaster. (A stock one w/standard pup configuration)

They are even more versatile IMHO.

They do the Blues SOOOO well.
Rock - No problem.
JAZZ - you got it. (They can become very 'dark' )
Country - do I even need to say....

Rhythm guitar par excellence!!!!
Lead - WOW!

They look great, and are quite probably the toughest guitar out there.

Simple, easy to fix, and parts-a-plenty for them just about anywhere you could find yourself.

The tried and true Tele gets my vote.

Is a Squier '51 more strat or more tele? "Other," I guess.

How would you classify a PRS Custom 24? That's double-humbucker like an LP, but is very different (switching options, trem bar, etc.) "Other" again.

The only electric I have is a Yamaha Pacifica Pac112, and its done everything I've asked of it. 2 single pups and a humbucker, and a nice low price. If I were a better guitarist and had other electrics my vote would likely be differant.

I meant to add "PRS" to the list, but I couldn't figure out how to add another item to the list after I pubished the thread...

I'll go with a modded strat: something like a normal 3 SC strat with hot pickups, phase and series/parellel switching 8)

Wow, tough question! Years ago I think I would have said a Les Paul, but after thinking it over, I guess I'd go for a Strat. Still, just try and take my Les Paul, Tele, & semi-hollow from me!!

Phew, didn't have to choose between the new Fender Tele and the old Squier Tele, so no upset feelings in the guitar room!

Telecaster - purely for versatility. Like Ken (CitZenNoir) said, it can handle any genre, any music whatsoever. And the fact that I'm a HUGE fan of these guys......

is neither here nor there!

I'd need an "I don't know" option. :(

I chose the Strat.

I've had my '73 Strat since (Well ) 1973 and could never be
parted from Mi Amigo. It not just sentimental reasons either.
Of all the guitars I've owned or played that is the one that fits me
the best.
