Poor man wanna be rich,
Rich man wanna be king,
And a king ain't satisfied
Till he rules everything. -Springsteen

Well, if you can't make it, stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive, if you can, and meet me in a dream of this hard land.

And the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls, and tenement halls - Paul Simon, The Sound Of Silence.

And the three men I admire the most,
the Father Son and the Holy Ghost,
they caught the last train for the coast - Don McLean, American Pie.

And the children hold machine guns
for the man from CNN - Stuart Adamson, The Hostage Speaks.

Resistance Is Useless - the guard who threw Ford Prefect and Arthur Dent out of the Vogon Spaceship in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. This isn't a lyric, more a motto for my way of life.

"Be good at what you can do" - Fingerbanger"
I have always felt that it is better to do what is beautiful than what is 'right'" - Eliot Fisk

As you may know, I am a huge Rush fan and I consider Peart a lyricist/god. That said, I'll try to restrain myself and post only the following passage :) ;

You know how that rabbit feels
Going under your speeding wheels
Bright images flashing by
Like windshield towards a fly
Frozen in the fatal climb
But the wheels of time
Just pass you by

Wheels can take you around
Wheels can cut you down
You can go from boom to bust
From sea to bowl of dust
You can go from rocket's red glare
Down to brother can you spare another war?
Another wasteland?
And another lost generation…

And, by the way, the song Wheels also contains one of Lifeson's most amazing solos, IMO. :)

"They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so ******* crazy you can't follow their rules."

John Lennon, Working Class Hero

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)

"Can't help being what I am, with the non stop bickering involved, believe me when I say, no we'll never separate." - Biffy Clyro, Ewan's True Mental You

"Leaf by leaf, page by page, throw this book away, rip out the binding and tear the glue" - Ben Folds Five, Smoke

"Take advantage of the sound, lean to walls leading to minds, you've got all these great answers, to all these great questions, still I feel them passing me by" - Biffy Clyro, Questions And Answers

Those are probably my favourite lyrics ever.

I am just a poor boy, though my story's seldom told.
I have squandered my resistance,
For a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises.
All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

Paul Simon's "The Boxer"

Boy doesn't that just sum it up?
