I love the way the nitrocellulose sunburst strats would wear around the edges. For a shiny new one I like white though. I saw a dark purple one that looked really good, but I doubt that's a standard color.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It appears that most people like a sunburst of some kind... whether it is the Sienna or the 3-color. I'm partial to the Sienna Sunburst because it shows more ofthe wood's grain (no black) and is a little unique since many people have the regular sunburst already. The issue is that the Sienna Sunburst isn't available in the Deluxe line, but is only in the American Standard line. It is only $100 less than the Deluxe line, and you really do get that $100 back in the Deluxe with the locking tuners, SCN pups, S-1 switching, etc...

However, if I could find a Sienna Sunburst with Texas Specials I would probably pull the trigger.

I'm going to say something somewhat heretical but I'm not really particularly fond of tobacco sunburst (3 tone sunburst). I say this even though my first guitar is a tobacco sunburst. Other burst tones are fine but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me.

My first pick is the white, after that - either burst.

You guys are great! Thanks for the suyggestions. I am going to take the GN results and act on them! I will be looking for an American Standard or Deluxe in Sienna Sunburst, Tobacco sunburst, or Vintage White. I'll post pictures once I make the purchase!

I don't like the new shades of red that come on Strats now, but a nice torino red Strat looks awesome IMO.

Sure does!

BTW, we're probably in a minority of men who appreciate different shades of red. I read somewhere that most men can only distinguish a few reds.

I pretty much like 'em all.
