I added a question to my post above. It's okay to have your teacher check it out, but you need to try it yourself as well. We all like different things in guitars.

I think the Gretsch is an extremely good value for the money. You can do a lot with it, and if you upgrade the pick-ups at some point you'd have a really fine guitar. :mrgreen:
