Does anybody know "Rodrigo y Gabriela"? I found a reference while I'm looking for another info. I'll go to the music store soon.
The official website: http://www.rodgab.com/
And a couple of YouTube videos:
- It seems the new single:
- An impressive version of Stairway to Heaven, really nice:
I wrote about their CD in one of the July newsletters. They've got great stuff. In addition to Stairway To Heaven, they also do a flamenco-flavored cover of Metallica's Orion.
The US copy of their CD also contains a DVD which has interviews, some live performances and also a short tutorial on their techniques and style.
Hope this helps.
Peace
It's true! I'm sorry, I forgot it! I'll try to find that CD here. It is not available online in the usual Spanish stores, thus I'll go to specialized ones on world music.
I agree with them, it is not flamenco for me. It sounds near to it because they use Spanish or flamenco guitars, perhaps some arrangements and also techniques as the rasgueo. It seems to me more Mexican or Sudamerican flavor. Anyway I only heard some songs in YouTube so my opinion is not so good.
Thanks David! :D
They have an album out in the UK now. Can't remember the title though.
Go see them live. A friend of mine did and came away humbled. They're something else.
