I watched the BBC news this morning. Russia is having a presidential election in a few weeks. Putin's designate or favorite was on the air being interviewed. he looks very young and has a few good ideas for his country. if I were a Russian I beleive I could vote for this man. why? he loves Deep Purple. he said as a teenager he listened to them all the time. then just this week Deep Purple came to Russia for a sponsored political event for him. he was in heaven. ' It was a surreal experience', my childhood dream appeared before me.
cool.
Lets see what happens after there is smoke on the water (i.e. the elections)...
Cool, nonetheless.
its the Duma elections that are more interesting though, given the recent electoral system change. post-1993, you could generally predict the presidential race based on which party won the biggest bloc in the Duma elections (parties would align themselves with particular presidential candidates) - the Duma elections were pretty much just considered a primary for the presidential race. this led to parties being formed/unforming in quick succession - there are only 3 or so parties which have entered every post-1993 election (out of a total list of at least 30 parties). but the recent electoral reform should make for a more cohesive and stable party system, which will in turn have an effect upon the presidential race and the president-duma relationship. I'm just glad Putin didn't change the limit on prsidential terms and stand again - that would have been disastrous for the progress of the country.
not music-related I know, lol, I just studied this in uni. hope the politics of it doesn't transgress the forum rules as I have been totally neutral, imho.
Thanks. I happen to find that interesting.
