could someone suggest some songs related to the final frontier for my girlfriends luncheon she is hosting in cape canaveral friday? I am going to make her a cd and all i have so far is Bowie's space oddity, life on mars, and Pink Floyd Darkside of the moon. Star trek theme song and Sir Elton's rocketman would be cool too Any suggestions are appreciated!

Interview guy: What is the source of your feedback?
Neil Young: Volume.
Anything from the Moody Blues' album To Our Children's Children's Children. Spaceman by the late great Harry Nillsson. And speaking of Space Oddity, there's a song called Major Tom (and I forget who did it) and don't forget Bowie's own follow up, Ashes To Ashes.
If I might be so bold, I'd like to mention an original piece called Saturn's Moons, which you can find on my soundclick.com page. It's very easy to play.
Peace
How about the old standard "Fly Me to the Moon"?

Bowie also had a song called Starman
Oh, and what about "Judy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Venus in Blue Jeans", "You're my Venus", "Blue Moon"
or, maybe, "Saturn on the Dock of the bay"
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Dude, perfect song for Cape Canaverl is "Countdown" by Rush.

"If the moon were made of ribs, would you eat it?"
Lyrics from that Rush tune:
Lit up with anticipation
We arrive at the launching site
The sky is still dark, nearing dawn
On the Florida coastline
Circling choppers slash the night
With roving searchlight beams
This magic day when super-science
Mingles with the bright stuff of dreams
Floodlit in the hazy distance
The star of this unearthly show
Venting vapours, like the breath
Of a sleeping white dragon
Crackling speakers, voices tense
Resume the final count
All systems check, T minus nine
As the sun and the drama start to mount
The air is charged
A humid, motionless mass
The crowds and the cameras
The cars full of spectators pass
Excitement so thick you could cut it with a knife
Technology...high, on the leading edge of life
The earth beneath us starts to tremble
With the spreading of a low black cloud
A thunderous roar shakes the air
Like the whole world exploding
Scorching blast of golden fire
As it slowly leaves the ground
Tears away with a mighty force
The air is shattered by the awesome sound
Like a pillar of cloud
The smoke lingers high in the air
In fascination
With the eyes of the world
We stare...

And I can't believe I forgot to add Under The Milky Way Tonight. Not many songs have a terrific bagpipe solo smack in the middle of them!
