Both, they each have their strong points and my musical taste is more than wide enough.
Though I'm sure we had this poll or something like it recently, I hope they can fix the search bandwidth problem soon.

I can't vote since I like them both
Primeta, the search is working again.
I hadn't even noticed about the search. :D
The tele took me longer to like, I bought it because it was simple and shopworn (cheap/ predinged). Having spent some time with my Mexican version, I want another at some point, more carefully selected (maybe an American made)
The strat I liked from the first time I played in the store. I still don't own one, partly because I can't find quite the right Fender and want to try the G&L version. (Jeez I'm getting picky.)

Pulled the trigger on a 2004 50th anniversary american deluxe strat a while back and it's the closest i've ever been to the "perfect" guitar in my minds eye.
the neck is soooo sweet and the new SCN pickups and S-1 switching gives me more tonal variation then i know what to do with.
#4491....
Of all my solid bodies I love my MIM Vaughn strat the best. I've put a bit of $ into it, but no really major changes.
Tele's . . .'eh I could take 'em or leave them. In my mind they're a great guitar, but they just don't make me want to crank it up and let loose.

Rock on
I've played a Strat for 20 years or so and love it (when I finally was able to understand it was nothing like the Les Paul I had).
It would be fun exploring a Tele for the next 20 years!
I think the name says it all
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

In theory I prefer the Tele, but I haven't played one I like as much as my Strat yet. Maybe if I took one home and gave it a good setup.
My choice would be a fixed brigde strat.

A little surprised by this Arjen. IIRC, you've recommended FR systems in more than a few GN forum discussions. I assumed you to be an avid whammy user.
Both the Strat and the Tele are good designs. I could decide by flipping a coin and happily live with the result. If it were Strat, Tele and LP, almost the same situation --- but if I got a LP, I think somewhere in the back of my mind I might suffer a bit of Fender vibe envy. The reverse is not true (don't think I'd be missing any Gibson vibe.)
