I saw a used Ibanez AGS 83 at my local shop today. Seems like a well reviewed guitar at a great price with just the features I'm looking for.
But, man is it ugly!
A buyer on some site said:
'While this guitar seems to be well made the finish has a very '70s mobil home kitchen cabinet feel...'
And that's spot on.
I don't really get hung up on little cosmetic details, but head to toe homely, that's another story.
Please tell me I'm being shallow and let me go spend some money.
:)
Don
LOL!
Bad, hunh? :P
I'll bet it's a great guitar, too!
Don
I'd play it in public...but that's not saying much.
maybe that picture isn't detailed enough, but I don't think it looks bad.
Call me crazy, but I actually kinda like it, it has a rustic, homemade look to me.. kinda like those guitars made out of cigar boxes.
Of course, I don't know how much it costs, and once I saw the price I'd probably change my mind.

LOL, Steve O. Cigar boxes = great image!
DennisF6 , that's a great looking guitar! A very different body finish than what I was looking at.
CFB's picture post kinda flatters the body colour. The one I saw was more greeny-orange.
Maybe it's the neutral density film they have over the front windows at the shop that made it look so sickly.
Don
Hmmm...
On a serious note,
looking at CFB's pic....
It seems that the camo pickguard is a major cosmetic detraction.
It needs a bit of contrast ..... ????

I don't particularly care for the pick-guard, but apart from that it looks OK to me....maybe it's just me, but a pick-guard covering up half an f-hole just loos wrong!
:D :D :D

Get rid of the pick guard and the looks would be improved a lot.
70's mobile home styling?
Nope, it's not avacado green! And no hubcaps on the tires!
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming......
like the passengers in his car.
Yep, I'd lose the pick-guard too. First thing I did on my archtop was take it off.
I've definitely seen uglier guitars, although I've not actually bought one. The design did remind me a bit of the sort of stretch pants that Rod Stewart liked performing in at one stage.....and we all know how tasteful Rod was....
Could be fine when you see it though.
Cheers,
Chris
