Just wondering what everyone's been up to musically lately.

Some of the good/bad songs I've been playing recently.

High Road Easy - Sass Jordan ( If you get a chance check this song out it came out in 1994 (Rats album)and I saw her at the club I worked at and never understood why she didn't become a bigger star sounds like Melissa Ethridge but rocks out alot more) This song rocks, tight band and some great lead guitar.

Whipping Post - Allman Bros( Working on the 1st solo at the moment)

Radar Love - Golden earring

The Pusher - Steppenwolf ( Not really much to this song )

Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - Have been playing the song for awhile but never bothered trying to learn the lead. Had some time off the past couple weeks and finally have it pretty much nailed.

New addition - Closer to Home/I'm your captain - Grand Funk railroad

I know there are a couple more but after being off for two weeks and now being back at work my brain is fried...or maybe that was from New Year's Eve....

I sat down with an acoustic guitar and a Total Guitar magazine the other day and played around with the Rolling Stones' Angie. Wasn't too complicated and I think I'll take it along to music school when it reconvenes.

On my classical guitar work, I've been trying to get to grips with this:

...it's a superb piece of music bit it's ****** difficult

I am taking a whole new direction in my learning lately and am trying to learn blues chord progressions and scales (mainly using "Blues You Can Use").

I have been playing almost 100% solo fingerstyle since learning to play guitar (2+ years). I am sick of not being able to join in at parties or to show off some skills. Last week, at a party, there were a few guys, drum set, two guitars, a bass guitar and everyone was just playing around. I would have loved to at least play a bit of rhythm with them.

Hopefully, in a few weeks I will. The fingerstyle has dramatically helped my chord changes and rhythm and even my picking skills since the last time I have tried this stuff.

Wish me luck :)

:)

I had some very busy days at work on December (you know, the deadline was "yesterday"). I thought it would change but I have to prepare some documentation for a couple of projects now...

It will change! :D

All work and no play is going to make Nuno a dull boy!

Man, after the Advent and Christmas season I am burned out! We did 11 songs Christmas Eve, and continuing this week I had two solos (me on guitar accompanying one singer.) I'm not playing for the next three weeks, so hopefully will get back to the Idiot's Guide for some studies. I also want to learn the killer bass line to Humble Pie's 30 Days in the Hole!

Been playing a lot of Sammy Hagar. Direct TV had a concert on with him and the Wabos and next thing I know I'm playing the stuff.

The Pusher - Steppenwolf ( Not really much to this song )
That's been a song of mine to play for quite some time. IMHO, a more powerful song than the ther two that made them famous. I'm been on and off trying to get the recording peculiarities. That lighter fuzzed guitar on the right, the two fill in guitars, etc.

Other than that: Not a whole lot. Family home for holidays reduces my play time to mostly noodling. I find that it helps to have a little mini break. In my form, it's about 2-1/2 weeks of nooding at different times. I normally come back from it able to play a song that had escaped me in times past. This time it was Neil Young's Broken Arrow.

I've been trying to get to grips with a ukulele that I got for Xmas - first tune: Mbube.

Received EZ Roll guitar DVD yesterday, so I'll be looking into that as well.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

New song Pornstar Dancin - My Darkest Days - OK so I liked the video, girls..bikini's what's not to like about it. The song itself is pretty easy but the Zack Wylde stuff is over the top. A bit out of my range at the moment but maybe in about 5 years I'll be able to play it. Besides the speed he uses alot of pinch harmonics on every note to make them squeal.
