Probably right here. After all, a rant is just someone's opinion about something.

You don't put rants anywhere on this board. Now I know I let the comedy post stay, but we are a strictly guitar/music related forum. If you have a rant about that specifically, and something constructive to say, then opinions and polls is where it goes.

And before anyone starts, (not that anyone has started down this path before  ), no this isn't a democracy, sorry. Yes we do censor, sorry bout that too. Yes we do try to maintain a certain level of decorum and keep the site guitar specific for the most part. Not sorry about that though.

...and that's what I like about this board, Nick!

It's not that there is a "supression" of free speech on this board when it comes to politics or religion or sports or the economy, it's just that there are plenty of other places to go for that.

Rants have a home on the misc. board of Guitar.com.

Or you could try here, if you need more time to rant:

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

+1 on that, Rahul.
Take it somewhere else.
I can always get rants from Mrs. Wabbit if I want some, thank you.

I guess here is as good a place to rant as any

My favorite "poem" is Desiderata
It begins . . .

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

and then goes on with more worldly wise advice.

Thanks, Derek. Always looking for an oppurtunity to rant. :D

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

I've always heard you shouldn't complain because most people could care less, and the rest are happy you are miserable. :D

and I appreciate Nick's efforts on these boards. thanks.

rants are ok if they are constructive; offering an answer or solution.
complaining is a pain in the arse. unproductive.

I prefer the term argument.

Thank you all.

It is very tempting, especially with the ability for users to report/flag posts with the new phpBB. But past experience has been....uhhhh.....mixed. Here are the basic reasons why we don't, based on our previous experiments:

1. It isn't that we can't debate things off topic fairly civilly, it's that when things get heated they tend to spill over back into the guitar specific sections.

2. Trolls

3. We can't moderate it.

4. Shouldn't you be playing your guitar rather than ranting about God and politics?

5. Spammers

To tell you the truth I wish we could. Then I could show you all how brilliant I am on so many topics and on so many levels. Unfortunately it's been a disaster when we've tried.

Dear Mr. Child of the Universe-

Shouldn't you be busy guarding your Moody Blues record collection?
