How about the Flying Lizards version of Money
or even worse, their version of Purple Haze
or, in fact, just about anything at all by them - they were pretty dire!

I like Lenny Kravitz, but his cover of American Woman by The Guess Who didn't even come close.

Cool video. It appears that Randy Bachman (hiding in the back on the right behind the bass player) is wearing a Garnet amps sweatshirt. Garnet was a cool little amp company out of Winnipeg (the home of the Guess Who) started by a guy called Gar Gilles now since passed on. He did a lot of rather cool amps in the 60's and 70's. Probably the second biggest Canadian amp company after Traynor. Supposedly supplied all the amps for The Guess Who and later BTO.
Bachman is also the guy who taught guitar to Neil Young (also of Winnipeg and partially Toronto).

Sorry jason, but I can top yours...
Pat Boone - Crazy Train (pretty much his entire "In a Metal Mood" album is an abomination)
I can top it - Pat Boone doing Tutti Frutti originally by Little Richard.

I don't know who or what a Hilary Duff is, but it was well named - hilariously duff!
THIS ONE will definitely up the cheese quotient a little - not quite the gorgonzolas we've had so far, more of a ripe Limburger......
Definitely Shagadelic, baby!

Spock vs Kirk
Are you ready to relent to Mr. Spock doing The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins? I'm not sure that it's actually a cover so I'll enter this - Mr. Spock singing Put a Little Love in Your Heart.

"Fire" by Crazy Arthur Brown
That's not a cover - that's an original and IMNSHO a pretty decent song. He apparently was a real nutter though. I'm too young to have seen him live but supposedly he would do this song with a real flaming hat on.

I remember when Money by the Flying Lizards came out. It was at the time pretty adventurous and an early part of what was called "New Wave" (basically the re-complexification of music again after the stripping down popular music underwent during the punk era). I think it was actually quite good. With the sliding scale of what's "classic" rock (that we had a long discussion about maybe 6 months ago) this is now in that category.

I think the worst I've heard has been Ozzy doing a cover of Sympathy for the Devil.
If you happen to get the Alice Cooper show on your local classic rock station, he pulls some real stinkers out on his "Coopers Covers" segment

Oh, no, no, no!
"A cheerful heart is good medicine."
All we need now is a version of "Jumping Jack Flash" by Westlife, and perhaps a cover of "Street Fighting Man" by Andy Williams......
