Lot of good ones mentioned so far...Red House Painters did a couple of fun covers - "All Mixed Up" (The Cars) and "Roundabout" (Yes).

As a matter of fact.. Warren Zevon did a GREAT version of "Knocken On Heavens Door" On his last album...God bless 'em---the dog

Lots of great covers. I agree with the dog(s): Warren Zevon's cover of Knockin' on Heaven's Door is special. I got it on a compilation disc of covers/songs influenced by Bob Dylan.

My current favourite covers are:

Shelter From The Storm, covered by Mary Lee's Corvette

and

Dust In The Wind, covered by The Scorpions.
"Little Wing" - by the Corrs (The sexiest band in the world, IMHO) from their Unplugged album

A sentiment shared by many of us. I may just start a "who is your favourite Corr sister" poll

(mine is Caroline)

Ghost Rider 8)

"Colour made the grass less green..." 3000 miles, Tracy Chapman

Although I sometimes cringe at covers (ah, nothing beats the original  ), especially when it comes to either the Beatles or Led Zep (ahem, Puff Daddy's aweful attempt to cover...I mean, "sample" of Zep's "Kashmire"), I will admit that the following are my favorite covers:

"All Along the Watchtower" - DMB
"Hello" - Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies
"Live and Let Die" - Guns N Roses
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door" - Guns N Roses

OK, I know, I know, some of my choices may seemed biased because I'm a huge GNR fan, but IMO Axl brought those two songs to "life." :D

Man, I haven't thought of Foghat in a while, they were awesome.

I loved their cover of I Just Wanna Make Love to You.

Hey, check out their website, you get to hear another fantastic song, Slow Ride.

Foghat

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis

Yes it was, I was getting the writing credits for this and Oye Como Va which was written by Tito Puente, mixed up in my poor old addled brain
