i can play well.i write tons of songs, but my ear is less than average.i wanna make it better,so i can make myself a better singer and guitar player.i can pick out rthymes on a guitar.what can i do to help myself?

Enroll in your local community colleges ear training class. It will do more for you than any book on the market or (even worse) web page on the internet.

Pick out all of the nursery rhyme's (or other melodies) you know on guitar. This will improve your ear loads.

That was Steve Vai's advice anyway, and what Steve says goes.

There also some articles here on Guitar Noise, I think.

My advice is try writing some songs, then try to train your voice to sing that song in different octave from how you'd normally sing lyrics.

You could also try to sing a song by written by someone else, (someone who you can't sing in the same octave as). Try to train your voice similair to the voice being sung.
