Curious if others hold this in high regards. When it first came out on VHS I wore out two copies in the first year or so with the constant pausing and rewinding :)
Favorite track and favorite solo, never fails to crack me up how friggan easy he makes it look.

Wow, no one digging the SRV? El Mocambo inspired me perhaps more than any other concert I've seen. How about Cold Shot, Austin City Limits 1989? This has to qualify as 'instructional'.. :)

Surprised, there's a number of SRV fans here.
I don't like blues much, but SRV kicks it. Well, okay, I'm a big Tommy Shannon fan too - Double Trouble was so much a part of the SRV thing but he and Layton don't get much of the spotlight. Oh well. Great rhythm section.
Since you're a fan, you might like reading Shannon's "Letter I Wrote About Stevie" on his website. Great comments about the man, not just the music. It's the last link on this page:

SRV?...I pray to him every night! 8) I absolutely loved Austin City Limits 1989. Don't have that one on disc yet but I do have El Mocambo. I remember showing it to a very good friend of mine. The thing is this...most of my friends do not have the same passion I have for music. Scratch that. None of my friends do. So, the night I go the El Mocambo DVD, I watched with my pal and afterwards I was almost dumbfound watching SRV play. I really enjoyed it. My buddy? He says.."yeah, that was ok"...OK? OK? Are you kidding me?
SRV's version of Little WIng...NONE BETTER.
